The thing with Protestant supply carts is that they indeed appear through events that give you new armies. You get the carts, but you don't get any corresponding increase of carts into your force pool. Thus, if you keep on getting carts by event and don't lose any, your actual number of carts in the...

One thing I realized playing a Protestant campaign that I won against the AI without ever bringing in Sweden, is to aggressively use the event cards for requisitions and contributions. After Denmark has entered at the latest, you should have plenty of cities in North Germany far from the frontline, ...

In case it might be relevant, I should mention that I've played through a Protestant grand campaign in version 1.00. In it, Bohemia fell as expected, but Bethlen never pulled out of the war. Instead, he kept on commanding Protestant forces throughout the campaign, way after his Hungarian cavalry uni...

I'm not sure directly including the Polish-Swedish War would be good game design. If Poland will just be yet another Imperial sub-faction, it would allow the Imperials to pool their resources a bit too well, make Poland support the Imperial cause in a way it shouldn't, not directly taking part in th...

Danish entry into the war isn't tied to the fall of Heidelberg, or as far as I know, anything else. In my current Protestant campaign, Denmark entered the war just fine without Heidelberg ever falling.

What is the motivation behind making the event specifically require being in a province with a city? Does the presence of the city enable point defence like that to a greater extent than if the city wasn't there? Though, for the most part, I've actually used the event when I have besieged an enemy c...

I've played a Protestant grand campaign up to November 1635, managed to turn the tide after Danish intervention, and now I have occupied all objective cities except Stettin and Stralsund which are still in inactive regions. Swedish entry into the ...

On the topic of (mis)using cuirassiers for outrider duties and other jobs usually left for light cavalry, does lighter cavalry actually perform better at such jobs in the game? Are they better at evading combat? When I've used lone cuirassiers for such jobs, they end up in combat against enemy field...

Yeah, I suspect the scenario setups are a bit ahistorically biased towards heavy cavalry. The recruitment pools don't seem to be, though.

Another question. For cuirassiers kept with armies, is it worth it including them in groups? Or, even stacking them together in an all-cuirassier group? Would doing the latter give them a good chance to get stuck in close combat on favourable terms?

I too am guilty of often using cuirassiers for outrider duty. I usually send them out alone to capture areas around my expected march route to enable the army to draw supplies from adjacent provinces. While using cheaper, lighter cavalry is of course preferable, often cuirassiers is the only thing I...

What I'd like to see would be a formation that facilitates retreat from battle, or reduces casualties for both so that you have better chances of reducing number of casualties suffered before getting to retreat. Is there such a formation? Apart from, I suppose, choosing limited rather than standard ...

Doesn't that mean there's a little loophole for exploitation? How about just running around with a micro-unit of cavalry and keep on besieging and retreating repeatedly until you're lucky and the garrison does not spawn?

About supply carts, also note that if you get new supply carts by event, that can take you over your force pool limit for them. In that case, you won't be able to rebuild them if you use them for depots, not until you've actually ended up below your force limit. Meaning that building depots may not ...

I concur with the propriety of the simple supply system. If even a master organizer like Gustavus had to come to the supply rather than make the supply come to him, it was probably inevitable given the logistical constraints of the time. I agree though with the suggestion that there should be some a...

Having played RoP with its advanced supply system, I've kind of come to appreciate the simple local supply of TYW more. Yeah, of course, first fix what's broken. Still, just changing the Catholic AI won't prevent players from abusing the feature, though I suspect most players would just house-rule it. What the title says. Does the stack that does the looting get a one-off increase in general supply? If yes, h...

I now went back a couple of turns. I reattached the supply wagons and made off towards Prague with the bulk of my force.
