Finding Units

Just started the demo on this, and it looks worth playing, but I am embarrassed to say I have a silly problem. How do I cycle among my armies and fleets to make sure I give them all orders each turn? There is no hotkey listed to do this.

Great Souix Uprising Revisited

This is definitely broken in 1.15. In my current game, I had a cavalry division waiting in Independence, Iowa for the uprising, commanded by Sheridan and McCook. Immediately upon the triggering of the event, the division moved into the Plains and annihilated the Souix force in late September. I stil...

I'll try that trick, I'm tired of having my forts besieged by cavalry. Not only do they breach on just about the first turn of their siege, one single-cavalry regiment totally breached Fort Monroe in one game I played. Fortunately it didn't follow up with an assault by a real army. I don't mind when...

Cavalry Besieging Forts

Has this been fixed in 1.16? What is the rationale behind a single, isolated cavalry unit with no guns being able to "besiege" and rapidly "breach" a fortress? It seems that everytime the AI pulls this trick, the cavalry "besiegers" immediately rip down the fortress walls, apparently by spitting at ...

Clarification of Recruiting Officer trait

A "recruiting officer" can "muster new conscripts on a regular basis in cities of level 5+." Does that apply to conquered cities, also? For example, playing as the USA, if I capture New Orleans and squat a recruiting officer in the city, will he "muster new conscripts" from there? Or does he have to...

Retreating Through my Attack: Neat trick, that

I understand that the developers want to give the CSA every possible break in this game, but this is getting ridiculous. I'd give almost 25 virtual cents to see a good justification for an enemy force "retreating" into the region my force is advancing from. This has happened to me several times. It ...

Playing the USA as I prefer to do, the onus of attack is on my shoulders. It can take a very long time to starve out an enemy garrison. Accordingly, I tend to use assault quite frequently on enemy forts and structures, which I typically attack with a minimum of two divisions. This works quite splend...

I've never seen any reference of ironclads traversing any of the canals. All the coastal ironclads (Monitor types) were built on the Atlantic seaboard, and all the river ironclads (for the USA, anyway) were built at either Carondolet or Mound City, afaik. I did discover those canals buried in the ma...

Great Sioux Uprising

According to the newspaper announcement of this event, the USA has two months to send "3 brigades" to the Great Plains region to avoid VP losses. In 1.15, at any rate, this turns out not to be the case... As of the second turn after the event fires, (i.e., one month later), I have two infantry units...

That "city" requirement is kind of silly. There is no "city" where Forts Henry and Donalson are, and lots of coastal forts were built where there were no cities. Not to mention places like Fort Laramie. :) From the standpoint of realism, it seems strange. If pre-war forts were built anywhere the Arm...

Wish: Ironclads in the right water

I wonder if there would be a way to make the game produce river ironclads only on river harbors and coastal ironclads (i.e., Monitor class) only on coastal harbors. In my current game, I have Philadelphia building a river ironclad (good luck getting that one on the Ohio) and Pittsburgh building a Mo...

Why can't I build a fort?

I'm sitting in a region where I have 100% control. I have 4 artillery elements and 12 supply elements in a stack with a leader. There is nothing in the region but a railroad. Why can I not build a fort? Yes, the leader is activated.

Dixon Miles is NOT Nelson Miles

I know the data base is closed, but for future reference in a putative ACW2, it is worth noting that US "General" Dixon Miles is NOT Nelson Miles. The game has the picture of the former and the (brief!) bio of the latter. Dixon Miles (4 May 1804-16 Sept 1862) never rose above the rank of colonel, wa...

Mmm, that is true of most of the data files, for which the Excel files need to be compiled in order to be used by the game. The Local Strings file is an exception to this: the strings are read directly from the file.

Change General text: not showing

I've been modding some of the generals with new photos and info, and much to my delight the new photos are showing up in my saved games, even when I renamed units (E. Food has been renamed to T. Garrard, but still shows up with the proper name and bio. I didn't expect that). However, when I change/a...

I hardly know where to post this, since the db for this game is notoriously not to be updated, but it doesn't seem appropriate for the putative ACW2 wishlist. Although it is listed as a port on the map, Decatur AL, located in the Lawrence, AL sector on the Tennessee river at Muscle shoals, apparently cannot be entered by riverine units. Not sure what your problem is. Pittsburg Landing is on the Tennessee River just south and across the river from Savannah, Tennessee. It would be located in the McNairy region just between Savannah and Corinth. It is not marked as such on the game map.

Does a depot in a coastal city have to be connected in the supply chain to another depot, and so on to a supply source?
