That should not be possible if they are in a different regions.

Use the evade combat button, that is used to prevent "March to the sound of the guns".

Re: New Engine

After playing a Pike and Shot scenario of Civil War battles, I hope that there is a Civil War game with those types of tactical battles. And buying of weapons of different types. Kind of like Forge of Freedom, but better. There are tons of games with tactical battles, games combining operational an...

Young! I feel young here with you guys but now my back has been killing me for a few days so dont feel very young. :papy: I have chronic back pains too. I have one word of advice: Sport. When I stop doing sport, back pains increases over time rapidly. I am painting a house today and it seems that i...

Re: How old are you guys ?

As this thread keeps being extended I feel more and more a need to share, I was born in time to share Avalon Hills early growth and own all of its most early games which I bought when they said for players 12 years of age and up and I was not yet able to meet that label. Thus, I still approach comp...

To Philthib and Pocus, Gentlemen, PhilTib has left the building, he is doing classical board games again, I hope he comes back to PC games at some point. Somehow I missed this. I had no idea until I read your comment. Thank you for letting me know. My apologies to PHilThib, Pocus, and everyone else...

To Philthib and Pocus, Gentlemen, I am most excited about this game, I will buy it as soon as possible. This is the launch of a new gaming system which you have put so much work into over the last few years. I have read the manual, and it is clear to me that this new system will be a masterpiece. I...

Re: New Engine

Nobody reads in the future :) First, Empires need to be a decent success, at the very least. Once that is done (hopefully) then we have no 'prohibited subject', so among others, yes, a game set in the Victorian era is always a possibility! Would it be possible to create two product lines ? Grand st...

WoN 3 player game

Anyone interested to try a 3 player PBEM game? The major factions would be divided at start as France, Britain and Russia. France also controls the major nations Spain and Ottomans if they join the French Alliance at any time. Britain also controls the major nations Prussia and Spain if they join th...

Re: PBEM scenario needed

Nice menu of items. I agree with many, but not all. I agree it would be very nice to have a separation of state and national units. I do think many of your other suggestions fall into the category of interpretation of historical realities and numbers, and so are debatable. This game does provide a ...

I am intrigued where these thoughts have taken you, but do not at all understand what kind of changes you advocate. - Improvements to the economy, more realistic but more diverse. - Attrition increased and replacement rates cut, resulting in fewer major battles and slowing down the pace of the camp...

PBEM scenario needed

I think most of the things that would make the game even better can be done with the DB changes, some of the mods done show the potential. I think that focusing on a PBEM only scenario without the need to guide the AI (except the other factions) would bring the game to another level. But it would ne...

Re: Supply Lines?

I was reading some of the ACW1 documentation and much was made of supply lines. However, there were quite a few cases where Grant, Sherman, and Sheridan left there supply lines behind and survived simply by foraging for a few months. This was a very important aspect of the Union's victory as it all...

Re: A few various brainstorms

I don't think so. Roads are not roads. That is, movement through a region depends not only on track/road, but also civilization level. So moving along a road in the east where civ levels are generally 70%+ is not the same as moving along a road in the trans-Mississippi where the civ level may be on...

So that you can see what has changed in ACW 2, mostly good but also some that should have been included in it also.
I would also call AACW a wargame classic, same as BOA.

Re: ACW1 or ACW2?

I am just finishing a 47 lecture class on the ACW. Needless, to say it got me interested. Well, I reloaded ACW1 and ACW2. I am assuming ACW2 is the more feature rich game with a better UI. So, should I just skip ACW1 and start with ACW2? But I will have to say overall the map graphics of ACW1 (and ...
