That's the beauty of it. If you want to bypass fort, you have to scout with your cavalry ahead and make some MC in front of you. There are countless possibilities and neither strategy is the best. But relying on forts is a risky strategy because of the posibility of surender. I had a game as the Uni...

You have limited number of coton bales. Sometimes some of it goes bad and you get nothing. So, if you don't play the card, you are gambling for larger sum. In my experience, if you don't play cards at all, you'l be able to sell abot 20% of the cotton you have for 50 $.

I 'm sorry I mentioned supply wagons, I only assumed wagons have low evasion value and are bound to be blocked by fort. I was wrong about that. But there is a way to bypass forts. Forts exert increased ZOC value. But, if the force attempting to bypass it is not too big, they can march through enemy ...

Every strategy has an anti-strategy. If Beauregard had 200 instead of 81 cannons, Union would risk loosing an entire division to surender. An error CSA did in RL all to often.

ANd, If Bory ditched his supply wagons, he would be free to advance regardless of the stockade.

It's auto behaviour, no on switch. You can click on evade combat button if you don't want stack to join combat. 1- Find a way to avoid clutter when more than 2-3 stacks are in small region (smaller stack sprites or larger maximum zoom)
2- Better PBEM security
3- Fire and assault phase hits differentation in battle report, and inflicted hits by each unit in battle report

Shri, could it be an unwanted sideeffect of new vanilla retreat rules with no mandatory retreat to start province. They ussually function well and allow protracted battles on the western front.

I used to wonder how useful are 6lbs until I looked a bit into battle logs. Once I looked under the hood I realised they are next to worthless. CSA 6lb will almost never hit on offense, and only rarely will hit on defense. Brigade 6lbs are essentially a dead weight. They will do some damage however ...

Gray Fox is right. The best chance for the South to win is to try to grab DC. The alternative is to try to grab defensive positions in Virginia, and along Mississipi Ohio and Cumberland rivers, and play a waiting game. The flaw of the second approach is you give initiative to the opponent and give h...

Hi, since I started the poll about Grant, I might say few words. The poll is only the end of a long debate we had in beta where I argued that Grant stats should be lowered a bit (not too much, 6/5/3 sounds reasonable, I think Sherman and Jackson were actually best generals in the war from each side)...

Have you checked them the following trn. In a number of occasions I found units in a stack with freshly added HQ perform worse because HQ increases maximum cohesion points, but since the game for lot of tasks evaluate current/maximum cohesion ratio, net result is poorer unit performance till next tr...

It must something that makes bears don't like me. I won't comment No1. About No2, I thought each hit is 30 men. That would make bit USA and CSA casualties of the mark. But, it's only in this battle, in other battles the numbers appear normal. This was a quick test with Nostra game files - where we c...

The most important thing, where you playing with 1.00 patch. It had a naval bug that caused fleets in defensive posture to fight with severe penalty. And AI was scripted to always attack Metz. That's changed in 1.01.

If you were a Civil War general, how would you rate yourself in game stats?

I thought this would be interesting self evaluating trivia. How would you rate your style of play, what stats would you give yourself? I would give myself 6/5/4, with reckless and fast mover traits. When I think of it, it's only slightly lower than Grant or Lee, I hope I am not too self-assured :D ....

You have to feel sorry for Skibear's draw. Going against former champ and eventually defeating him is not enough. He has to defeat him with bigger margin than mine vs Jim. I have no privileged information whatsoever. I analyzed battlelogs in the 1.05RC1 and I saw that the logs say no region to retreat to, will remain in province, while there is a number of 100% MC neighboring provinces to choose from. I classify such behaviour as a bug.
