Ok, I realised what happened. You originally selected the French Plan XVI (that requires mandatory attack in Early August), then played the "Historical War-Plan" event , so reverting to French Plan XVII (mandatory attack in August). Herewith enclosed you can find your zipped savegame, corrected. I ...

Mandatory attack but French units locked

Playing the French in a four player game. Early August turn - military phase. Several French armies and detachments show a mandatory attack but are locked, so I am stuck.
Saved game attached. Thanks.

As a serious board and computer wargamer for over forty years, I highly recommend this game. I have been waiting many years for a detailed, historically accurate WW I game. I would much rather have a WW I game based on this engine than on the SC2 or the GGWAW engines. The Ageod game engine (division...

How to combine Detachments / Armies?

If I have an area where I have one or more Detachments and an Army HQ, is there a quick way to combine them? The only way I know is to transfer the Detachment to the Army Reserve and then from the Reserve back to the Army HQ. This would only work with Detachments from the same Army HQ. How about com...

Thanks for the explanation, Pocus, but I have never used ALT+TAB in any of my games of BOA. I will see if I can replicate this problem in the next game I play.

V1.05 - wild map scrolling

Playing the 1756 scenario as English. About 15 turns into the game, the map starts scrolling very fast whenever I move the mouse - so much that I cannot play the game any longer, as I cannot click on a unit and scroll a few areas to a near destination. The slightest mouse movement will scroll half t...

Bad combat report - missing units

Using V 1.04b - 1775 scenario as British. Do nothing with the Boston army on turn 1. On turn 2 when the large British army arrives at Boston, combine both armies and attack the American army under Ward sitting outside Boston. You will win the battle. The combat report shows 572 attacker points vs 0 ...

Final siege results

When a fort/town falls after a siege, there is simply a message in the log. It would be nice to have a final report: - attackers storming losses - defenders losses (killed and captured) Do the defenders surrender to a man, do some escape, or does it vary due to various combat factors? Can Leaders es...

Hi Pocus,

All directories in my current install are sized as specified by you. I uninstalled the game.

I reinstalled the game, patched to 1.03c - all file sizes are correct.

I reloaded saved game - no empty battle report this time, nor crash.

When I go to the menu and reload a second time, I get the correct saved game. I did get my victory score e...

Hi Pocus,

My XP Windows Explorer shows two game directories with 12 saved games each, but when I Load in-game I see only the two Tutorial saves and the most recent save of two different games (a total of 4).
Should I not see all the saved games? Thanks.

Sorry - can't send you the saved game as it was overwritten by the end-of-scenario saved game.

I will try to recreate this anomaly and send a saved game.

I am glad that "save as" will make it into the next patch!

Thanks.

Naval battle observations

Pocus, Just checking to see if these naval battle results look acceptable to you. Thanks. Playing the 1757 scenario as the French, with extra AI help and at the 2nd difficulty level. Lost this first battle in Nov 1757: France: strength 166 ranged losses 139 Admiral 3-2-2 3 x trans 1 x 64 5 x 74 2 x ...

Pocus, I understand that you are working on tweaking the AI. Here are more AI observations: I just played and won my first game (526 vs. 266 VP) as the French in the 1757 scenario, with extra AI help and at the 2nd difficulty level. During the last year or so of the game I was aware of 3 large Briti...

I do not share the last analysis: forces in Nova Scotia would take almost 6 months to reach New England by land, while leaving NS unprotected all the time (and Halifax is a key English strategic town)... This would open the door for a French raid there... So, comparing the time lost / assets at ris...

I think DGold is right. In fact the problem is a bit complex, but the result is has he said. Sometime the AI consider too much the overall strategic situation and keep too strong defences, even if local opportunities served on a silver plate are nearby. (take note that generally the AI in other gam...

Tweak to AI needed?

Playing the 1756 scenario as the French, and am doing very well. The British have had 3 regular and 1 militia units sitting in Acadia with General Lawrence for over a year without attacking the city of St Jean nearby which has only 1 militia unit. The British have also a strong army (6 units) in For...

NO! They will attack out immediately. YOU have to coordinate matters by making sure the relieving force arrives in the same turn your garrison sorties. At least, I think that's right... The easy part is having the relieving army reach the area with the besieged town in the same turn. The hard part ...

Coordinating attacks relieving sieges

Is there any provision in this game to coordinate an attack on a besieging enemy force, by a relieving army attacking coordinated with an attack out of the fort by the friendly garrison?

Thanks.
