But as some counterpart you could introduce a trait like "Vanguarder" or "Hero takes the front" aka the general leads his troops himself into the battle like the old Schwerin or the old Dessauer or even Napoleon at Marengo did with better cohesion(+10), better discipline(+2), better morale(+5) and ...

"General, they really could hit an elephant at this dist...." :mdr: A Blackadder quote comes to mind..... General Melchett: Are you looking forward to the big push? Private Baldrick: No sir, I'm absolutely terrified. General Melchett: The healthy humor of the honest tommy. Don't worry my boy, if yo...

I actually completely agree with you and talked about that in another thread. By mid-games, you have so many commanders that CP (and nationality) is not an issue anymore, which is kind of sad. Higher attrition rate would be bad both for the Austrian (who could lose his rare good commanders) and for...

Prussians database generate some good leaders appear after a time(Stg rating 5-6,mostly with cavalryman trait) ) other than usual brilliant Heinlich, Keith etc. But as it is more of an operational game than other Ageod games(troop building limited) Prussians can have difficulties managing/resisting...

I'll try to find time next month to investigate the matter  Just to clarify, I'm not saying that there is a problem here to be fixed. I'm just curious what other people's experiences are who have played the game a lot more than me. I really like the ability to promote generals but rarely ...

Leader Casualties

Sorry if this has been raised already but I couldn't find any thread on this matter. I recently played a campaign as Prussia (v1.03 RC4) after a long hiatus away from the game. During the campaign I was struck by how few of my generals died in battle. Basically none of them did, and I'm pretty sure ...

I don't understand why the need for a NM hit for disbanding units, especially if the remaining elements are sent to the force pool. Maybe put in a rule that units under siege or out of supply cannot be disbanded or still take a NM hit. I bought ROP back in July. I had been watching this forum to see...

IFs are interesting, but the result is not measureable, it is only fantasy not history. IF's make for fun discussions though! :) Anyway under Paradox's new naming policy he's no longer to be referred to as Frederick the Great, but as Frederick the Best. It's more understandable to today's ma...

Szabo provides some great info on the battles and operations. The problem is that he is vehemently anti-Frederick to the point that is clouds all reason. It gets to the point that according to Szabo, the austrians never lost a battle. He even provides narrative on why leuthen was a narrowly diverte...

I've just finished Nancy Mitfords book on Frederick the Great. It was a fairly light but interesting read. It doesn't go into a lot of detail on the military or diplomatic side but is full of his interactions with his family and friends, especially his friendship/relationship? with Voltaire. It was ...

Thanks for the information, its very interesting to know. I notice that in the 1756-63 Campaign, as Prussia, the first Musketeer Btn you create is I/Forcade de Biaix IR23. Which is the first available name in the RoP_DB_Units file. Curiously this name is available in the DB because in the set-up fil...

39 years old. :neener: Started playing wargames on my Commodore 64 back in the 80's, which is long enough ago that I really have to think hard right now to try and remember what games I played on it! I think Nato Commander was my first wargame, gosh!! I must've been about 14 then. Crusade in Europe,...

Tried playing as GBR against the AI USA. Previously I'd won relatively easily playing as the USA in the the War of Independence, and GBR in the French Indian War. This was only my 3rd campaign game and a month had elapsed since my last game so I may have become a little careless. Anyway it's winter ...

Would love to see a 30 Years War game. It's a period that seems to get overlooked. I was hoping that the Total War series would try that period out but judging from they way they treated pikemen in Medieval 2 and ETW maybe thats for the best. War of the Spanish Succession would be a treat as well!!!!
