So, in essence, increasing the difficulty level setting above 3 doesn't actually make the AI do anything fundamentally different or better, or give it more powerful units; it simply allows the AI to 'cheat' a little with RPs and reinforcement placement. Is this a fair summation? If so, I think I'll ...

How to approach 1915 scenario

Hi. I've been playing the Tannenberg, Serbia, and 1914 scenarios for a while and now feel fairly comfortable with the mechanics and strategy/tactics of movement warfare. However, I've just started the 1915 scenario as the Entente powers, and it's all a bit overwhelming! Three fronts to manage, plus ...

Russkly Moff Jerjerrod stated the known situation; what you see in the game is correct. You can confirm the unit's actual statistics in the unit info box which you can open by clicking on the particular corp. I'm talking about a little brown unit info box that opens on the right side of the screen-...

The manual is definitely incorrect so go by what the tooltip ingame tells you. I remember reading about this manual errata item somewhere else here on the forum. @ Calvinus, Please can you confirm. Seems that tooltip is correct based on firepower and attack/defence values, but just to be sure (beca...

Thx.

I had been working on that basis - tooltiips rule.

I did search the manual errata sticky, but couldn't find any reference to this issue.

Me three! I find that using minimum forces pulls individual corps out of their 'home' regions into those of other armies, leaving me to have to rearrange everything the next turn. I like my armies and their detachments to be clearly identifiable without having to scroll through separate stacks in a ...

SPOILER ALERT: 1914 Scenario - Potential issue with mandatory French attacks

Noticed that playing this scenario (now many times to master the concepts of movement warfare before moving on to the more complex trench-based stuff) that it is possible for the French armies in Alsace-Lorraine (I, II & III) simply to move from their current regions into the adjoining French region...

Difficulty Level - what are the mechanics?

Searched both manual and forum without success.

What effects exactly does changing the game difficulty level have?

It is clearly more difficult, but what precisely happens when the slider is moved to the right?

Colour of Veteran/Active Units

Just a quick question, an answer for which I could not find via the search function: The manual says that a veteran unit has a purple flag on its unit icon and an acive unit yellow, whereas the in-game tooltip states that a yellow flag is veteran and purple active. Which is correct? Thanks, R

Perhaps there could be some flaw in victory calculation for that scenario. So take heart and move to a bigger challenge. This is not more than a suggestion, of course. ;) Edit: also you can switch side and play with Austria! Thanks for all your support Calvinus and Montgommel - it's been really hel...

If you want to win, why don't you try another scenario like 1914? Sorry, I meant I wanted to win the Serbia scenario (as Serbia), since I have played it many times, and I want to beat it. Just had another draw, with 3 stars this time (Austria had 1), but my HQ got isolated and was disban...

I played yesterday the Serbian scenario and I did: - Played aggresively with the serbian first army and try to disable the austrian armies one by one. - Serbian army is very powerful due to the two attack stars of his leader and because the high morale of his units and the high PR flow that allows ...

Thx, Calvinus; great support. Would you include cavalry within an army then, and commit them in battles like any other corps unit, or use them as a detachment in the same region as the 'main' force or indeed in a different region? If used thus, do they act as a screening force, to allow the main for...

SPOILER: Perhaps this helps. It is the boardgame scenario victory conditions, so it can be a little different from the PC game: I. Victory : • The Victory criterion of the Austrian is based on conquest: Belgrade, the Serbian cities and towns and the railway to Bulgaria. • Austria : Serbian HQ destro...

Noob needs help with basics, please

Dear all, I'm new to WWI Gold having always been fascinated by the conflict (in fact I'm currently reading William Philpott's excellent "Bloody Victory"), but I had also noticed a dearth of PC games representing it. Now, I've dabbled with the more 'hardcore' side of PC gaming with titles like "Napol...
