Can the names of elements be changed? I read in the original AACW forum that due to the way the first game was made, this was impossible to do. I hope this is a possibility the second. It would be nice to customize the names of the elements so you wouldn't end up with doubles with the same names and...

I too have the steam version. I did a clean install and updated to 1.04a fine. The game loaded and it had 1.04a at the bottom.

However, when I go to start a new game it gives and error message and crashes.

Any ideas?

One naming mistake I noticed with the last map was that the Chattahoochee River (in between Alabama and Georgia) was named the Apalachicola River all the way up to Columbus, GA. The Chattahoochee River ends at Lake Seminole, which forms the corner boundary between Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. Lake...

Yes, BOR will be a stand-alone game: http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?27995-Birth-of-Rome-Release-Anouncement I was wondering this as the title of this thread seemed to contradict the announcement. Thank you. I did not purchase AJE simply because that time period doesn't interest me as muc...

Thanks for the replies. The economics in this game are pretty deep. Just when I think I get it, there is another thing that comes up. I think I understand industry now, but I'm still a bit lost when it comes to what actually happens to my goods. Does the computer handle actual selling my goods to bo...

How much taxation, tariffs, etc. is too much?

Hello forum members, I just started playing this game. After reading the manual I started up a US game. I've tried twice to start a game and each time I'm faced with dwindling state funds with an the inability to break even without max taxation and a 50% tariff. I read another thread basically stati...

Understand slavery how you want, Belisarius, but realize that your understanding cascades into a much larger, very often wilfull miscomprehension of American history. Ad hominem statements, like this, are a good way to turn a constructive and friendly discussion into a flame war. We're both histori...

Thomas Niska's post made several assumptions that I disagreed with. 1. That Southerners were the majority who sought the Mexican-American War. 2. The Creek and Seminole Wars were fought in the South by Federal troops and Southern frontiersmen. To mention those two wars specifically and leave out oth...

The same Southerners who feared Federal intrusion on their lives had no problem inflicting it on Mexico fifteen years previous - theirs was the section most enthusiastic about that war. The New England "Yankees" saw that war for what it was. Ditto the Creek and Seminole Wars. New Englanders were no...

Oh well, something to hope for in future AGEOD titles. I figured it was too complicated and difficult to do or it would have been done already.

It would be great to be able to change the names of brigades and elements as well. Other than using that function for flavor, it is rather annoying to have two units of the same name or number.

Problem with Indians and Cavalry

I just started playing BOA, but I've read up on most of the main topics of supply, command points, and detection. My main problem is when smaller enemy units start penetrating deep into my territory and lay waste to the regions in my rear. I leave garrisons in my cities but I can't seem to protect t...
