Graphic enhancements

The graphics in Wars of Succession do a nice job of making a visual representation of a world that looked very different from what we're used to seeing. But from time to time the game relies on modern visual conventions that would have seemed odd to someone from the period. Something like this happe...

The link to the Matrix forum with the Eugene icon: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4427983 Many of the personalities in the game lend themselves to becoming desktop icons. There are at least half a dozen colorful possibilities. I settled on Eugene because I had to draw the line somewhere ...

Music in PON

Does anyone remember how music works in PON? I'd like to add an instrumental version of Va Pensiero from Verdi's Nabucco to the Italian music, but am not sure what coding I should use. There seem to be three (possibly four) codes to write after the country name (WAR, PCE, ALL, and CMN if it isn't a ...

Problems in Minnesota

It has been pointed out in the Steam threads that there is a problem with Minnesota. The game map has Minneapolis on the east bank of the Mississippi, and St. Paul on the west side. I have been to both cities, and can personally confirm that when you are in St. Paul facing northwest, you see the riv...

Re: ECW 1.03 Public Beta

You are not in the majority. The colorful maps in the other games are unfortunate and the one for ECW is quite tasteful. The antique map style always looks better than modern glitz, and the flashy modern look really isn't appropriate in the older periods. What you are talking about is a mod, not an ...

Re: Hollowfaith's Music Mod

If you use a proper sound editor you won't have any problems. I use Goldwave, but there are plenty of others. The random selection program that these games use is very weak, and on several occasions I've attempted to overcome this by building all of the music selections into one massive file. I've a...

If you have an account with a file sharing service like Box or Dropbox and upload a file to it, you should be able to post a link to that file without problem. If it's just a matter of linking to an image, it works in pretty much the same way. Upload your image to a hosting site that you have an acc...

Re: Graphics issues

Just to be clear, I think the overall appearence of the map is very tasteful and quite attractive. I particularly like that it draws its inspiration from the feel of antique maps. Too many art departments just grind out another glitzy computer game with inappropriate modern computer graphics.

Bradford at start:

Loyalty: Royalist 24%, Parliament 25%

Control: Neutral (like almost everywhere else).

Who controls what by the time the standard goes up has a lot to do with what decision cards you and your opponent play.

Re: Forts Lee and Washington?

I haven't played this in a few years, so I don't remember exactly where the game puts these two forts. I hope they're in the right place. They should essentially flank the George Washington bridge that will be built in a different century. The Hudson is about a mile wide at this point, so to control...

Re: Ageod Announces English Civil War!

I hope the game includes both Scotland and Ireland. I still remember my dissapointment when I realized that Unhappy King Charles didn't include Montrose's campaign. Including Ireland would show you, in a very graphic way, where Charles' 'Irish' troops are coming from and why they exist. Apart from t...

Re: Wars of Succesion

I think you missed the distinction between the Epigoni and the Diadochi. Antigonus, Cassander, and Antipater aren't Epigoni, and they are well known precisely because they are Diadochi. The Ageod engine would work for the Epigoni, but the only way to slip them past the general public would be to inc...

Re: Wars of Succesion

The Diadochi would be a fantastic subject for a game, but I'm not sure that the Ageod engine could handle it properly. It was too much of a civil war, and armies could (and did) quickly turn on their commanders and change sides. Perdiccas was about to win the civil war when his troops took too many ...

I took a stab at testing the GUIbottomLeft file without changing the Local Strings_AGE file, and can confirm that you need to make alterations to both for the text and the black box to vanish.

It works. What I don't know and haven't tested (and probably don't need to) is whether it's still neccessary to change the Local Strings_AGE file when you've made the adjustments to the GUIbottomLeft file (which I made in Wordpad rather than Notepad, by the way -- was that right?). Thanks your kind reply. I wasn't asking how to do it. I was asking what the non-Steam path equivalent is to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Civil War II\CW2.
