I haven`played the game yet, but: As far as I can understand the devs of RUS Gold didn`t rely on solid texts only as background material for the game but they seemingly also relied heavily on Wikipedia(!) as a historical source. In that case I can understand that some people may find some areas of ...
I do think this game has very clear goals and objectives. I do find it odd to compare it to Strategic Command, which is a lot of fun and which I play, as Strategic Command is kind of a historical simulation with a lot of fudging and fluff, while Russia under Siege gold is historical simulation wher...
Just wondering what patch people are actually using for CW2 in here? A previous post in this thread mentions a 1.06.3 beta patch. I just downloaded this patch and noticed that it was not marked as a beta patch and the size was about 34 megabytes. The 1.06.3 official patch that I have downloaded from...
Of course Friederich Schillier's classic but very partisan "The Thirty Years War" war cannot be beat for lively details and rousing opinions. Thanks for the recommendation. I see the book is quite old but should be no problem if still readable. Found a free downloadable version here: http...
I have "The Pursuit of Glory: Europe 1648-1815" myself. Still not read it though. I've been reading mostly about ancient history up to now, apart from WW2 and cold war era books. Too many books to read, too little time. My Thirty Years War book is titled "The Thirty Years War: Europe'...
Thanks, again, Durk. Based on your advice I have finally decided to go for a purchase. I don't know that much about this particular period in history, but I have a pretty massive book sitting on my shelf covering the Thirty Years War, yet to be read. Guess it's about time to pick it up.
Regarding the missing units; it looks as if the plugin posted here is exactly the same as the one I have after patching the game to 1.02. The time and date of the file is the same as well as the content of the file. Was the 1.02 patch repacked at some point with this plugin included? Is it related w...
My understanding is that there is a way I can play all scenarios from each game in HAN. Do I just copy the scenarios from AJE and BOR into HAN, and then just uninstall the two other games?
1. Paradox didn't fail to hand over keys; they handed over all the data they had. Paradox separated from Gamersgate in about 2009. 2. Your install is persona suspecta because you are effectively part of the home team and also all the development work you have done (and kudos for that, and your AARs...
I`m installing ROP right now and will see how it goes.
Edit: The ROP installer is the old Paradox version but the upgrade from Matrix installed without problems. Could also start a scenario and no conflicts.
Hi I bought RoP years ago and can`t quite remember where I actually bought it. Checked my Matrix account, but not from there. Nor have I bought it on Gamersgate. Well, anyways. I have a setup file called Setup_ROP102. I also have the Gold upgrade bought from Matrix Games. Now I`m just wondering if t...
I have done several attempts to download the quickfix but it takes ages to download it. Apparently it takes me 2 hours through the link provided in the first post. Any chance for an alternative download link? (crossed fingers) Edit: I finally did download the quickfix and luckily no broken connectio...
I have the 1.0 unpatched download version. It is the Nobilis version (shows on screen) and as far as I know, reading in the forum, this one need the foundation patch before any further patching. So I downloaded the foundation patch but it was in french and I can`t change the language. Is there an en...
Thank you for a very enlightening answer. With this in mind I think I will put in the fixes, as you said some of them are typos from the devs. As for the Namur you are right. I just misread my information.
So,if I understand this right; None of the fixes here, including Brest-Litovsk fix, is not really needed as they were historically inactive? I see that the Namur fortress can be added to make it a bit harder for the Germans although it is ahistorical.
Both AJE and BOR is added to my purchase list. Too hard to resist since the games looks fantastic and my only real alternative to the time frame is EU: Rome from Paradox. But that one is unstable and still in beta...
As the title suggest I`m in to possible buying the game but my concern is on the replay value of the game.
I`m more into grand strategy games and AJE and BOR is more scenario based. So what are the possibilities
for me here?
