England Declares War

Hi all Apologies in advance for what may be a newbie question, but this is my first attempt at any kind of modding. I'm trying to rewrite the 1862 scenario as a "what-if" to explore how things would have gone with recognition of the CSA by Britain and France. My main question is, what is required to...

I rarely use Hold At All Costs unless it's somewhere I absolutely have to hold onto, and also believe that I can. Holding at all costs against a vastly more numerous attacker will just lose you that many more men (and NM). It isn't going to affect the result of the battle. As for Assault, I probably...

Whether it's intentional or not, you can do it, but it's not an efficient use of your two star generals. Much better to add a talented one star leader to the stack (and from late 62 onwards the Union gets plenty of good quality division commanders), then transfer division command to him, leaving the...

Yes, we're playing with unmodified 1.15. Thanks for the info, I'll get it emailed off and hopefully our game can be saved. :)

Game freezing mid-turn

Hi all I'm having a problem with a PBEM game. Running the turn works as usual until it reaches a certain battle on day 3 in Williamsburg; the battle runs, then the game freezes. There isn't any bug report, the program just stops responding and can only be shut down through Task Manager. It isn't the...

Leader seniority gains

Hi all Newbie question; is there a way of modifying the way generals earn seniority increases, or is it "hardwired" into the game code? At the moment I am playing two PBEM games, and it's proving difficult if not impossible for either player in either game to get any of their generals promoted. We'd...

So ... how often did such a thing happen (a large force destroyed by pursuit) in the real ACW? Especially considering that a determined pursuit after a bloody battle is extremely rare in military history? :innocent: I can't think of a single occasion where it happened. Driving the enemy from the fi...

Thanks all for your responses. It's good to know that I was just unlucky to lose that heavily; it might take a while to recover but it's a tough lesson well learned. If I can start getting some solid victories under my belt then maybe I can pull this one back. Even if I can't, I'll have a lot of fun...

Complete destruction of a corps

Hi all. I'm still a newcomer to the game, currently playing the Union in my first two full PBEM campaigns against worthy (and devious) opponents. I have a question, having just come off a catastrophic turn in one of those games. I had a 15,000 man corps under Keyes, which moved southwards into an em...

A couple of minor bugs

I have to say first of all that I adore this game. Probably the best money I've ever spent on a game. :) I just wanted to raise a couple of minor bug issues though. They may well have been raised before; if so, apologies. I'm currently playing the 1861 w/KY campaign as the USA. The first bug is that...
