Maybe it's the local women?

The only thing better than Southern girls is Mid-Western ones :)

And no, you can not kill lone commanders.

Thanks Orso. I have noticed you can drag and drop on an enemy but i've seen the problems you mention. I was hoping maybe there was some secret order I didn't know about that worked better. Thanks though.

(anything out of place like this or modern looking leader portraits (worse Kirk Douglas) leads to a loss of immersion for me). AJE is a fine map though - as long as a map is not pointlessly 3D I'm happy. Then you should really like the commander in charge of the Union force at Ft. Laramie when the ...

I have Win7 6.1. It wouldn't surprise me if it was Win causing this. I just thought it might be the patch cus I installed 1.16 and it fixed a few issues and drastically improved game play for just being a patch and when I upgraded to 1.17 it all went down the crapper. However, it appears I fixed it ...

Oh man, oh man!!! I can't wait!! This is going to be so sweet!! I wonder what the price will be? I'm not trying to push the price up here but I only give my money to people who deserve it and I would gladly pay $60 (that's what new games cost these days i think) for AACW2.

Actually I can see Early Sept 62 USA save file in my save game directory but it doesn't show up when I load the game. Is there anyway for me to get this turn to show up when I load the game? If I can get that to load maybe I can continue the USA game. Any suggestions would be great. If I can salvage...

A few problems with 1.17

I've been having some serious problems with the new patch. I played through with the CSA and nothing I couldn't handle. But now i just got to Late October 1862 as the USA and unfortunately it was the best game i've played with the USA so far in years and it's done with now. For some reason I can't c...

Now that you mention it I have noticed that I'm having a slightly more difficult time getting my good generals to advance and the generals that aren't meant to be promoted are sucking up the seniority. It could be just a fluke or me but that had never happened before in all the years I've been playi...

I've always found it hard to believe that slavery was a reason for the common soldier to go to war. Especially since he owned none nor had any connection to someone who did. The best insight into this that I've ever read is Company Aytch: A Side Show of the Big Show. The best read on the views of th...

That's exactly why he was known as "Little Napoleon" but without the tactical prowess. However he truly did whip the Army of the Potomac into fighting shape and turned it into a well oiled tool for more tactically sound commanders. Hooker also did a good job of raising army morale after the crushing...

^^^ haha i do that too. So for me it's an endless cycle of playing and winning as CSA and then doing the same as USA and the cycle continues. It's definitely good practice. I know some people here have said they strictly play as only one side but I want to experience everything the game has to offer.

Does anyone know the best way to get the foreign armies to come in on your side? Will they do it just by keeping the Feds on their toes throughout the entire war or is it a MUST to use one of the political options?
