Troop recruitment types

Suppose that I'm playing as Carthage. Under what circumstances should I prioritize recruitment of:
- Elephants vs Cavalry
- Iaculatores vs. Libyphoenices vs. Peditatus
- Iberian vs Sardinian vs Balearic mercenaries

Another advantage Carthage enjoys is in terms of commanders, since they gain experience over the years of the campaign whereas the Romans don't. In particular, Hanno is actually a very good commander (3-5-3 right from the beginning). According to Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanno,_son_o...

No replacements for Carthage mercenaries; Only one Italiot unit available for replacement (ie, this option will not reappear)

What does this mean exactly -- that after recruiting from the options menu say the Numidian mercenaries, you won't be able to recruit them again from the options menu?

Turn 33: January, 261 BC ... which I promptly do. My main stack is becoming quite fearsome. I'm at 109,000 men and approximately 4000 power. Whatever the Romans have, it probably doesn't add up to this. I should be able to crush them in open-field. This is the army breakdown: [...

Turn 31: November, 262 BC Nothing happened. The Romans stayed in Syracuse and Messana. I did get a new option, which I'm going to take advantage of this turn even though it means it will delay the expansion of the military port in Carthage: It allows me to replace Hannibal Acr...

Turn 30: October, 262 BC Bad news! The Romans managed to avoid my fleet and shipped in their second consular army from Rhegium to Syracuse. Here is a current screenshot of the situation: This same turn, I've also shipped in some Africa troops with the 2-star Hannibal Acragas m...

Right, it's still a long way to go and anything can still happen... Turn 29: September, 262 BC It turns out that six days of rest in Messana is all the Romans need to go back up to full strength after being beaten soundly in Tauromentorium last turn. Two battles occur in Messana, which the Romans bo...

I'm not sure why the need for so much secrecy :) Paradox for instance have developer diaries and announcements saying what the next expansion is going to be about. This creates anticipation and interest. I understand you work with a much smaller team and that dev diaries might take away from the dev...

Turn 26: June, 262 BC. No movement in Sicily. Looks like we're in a stalemate situation. I feel like I'm in a fairly strong position right now, and with the ongoing Roman shipbuilding they will eventually be able to bring their second army. I've decided to take a bit of a gamble and attack the Roman...

Turn 23: March, 262 BC I forgot to mention last turn, that my CP problem might be coming to an end soon. A 2-star general called Hannibal Acragas with 3-1-3 stats showed up in Carthage. First Punic War, Reinforcements & Replacements

For Carthage in the First Punic War, it seems the Epibatae units that you start with, once fully lost you cannot recruit again (reinforce). Is this intentional? Also, there are no Celtic reinforcements and the mercenary line infantry chit does not seem to replace losses for the "Galii Mercenarii Ped...

Turn 19: November, 263 BC The Romans stayed and fought at Henna, and Hanno defeated them! I think the balancing problem is a little bit deeper than that. It seems that Roman legions can generally win against anything in frontage-limited situations. So now to balance it out, the scenarios tend to give non-Romans larger forces which means they rule open areas. This is also true of the Pyrr...

But I'm especially wondering about the Dacian wars.
There is a teaser in the AJE manual that it is an upcoming scenario ;)
