Re: How To PBEM

Thanks for the info. I haven't yet tried that, since another player gave me this technique: Put the country replay file in the save folder along with the .hst file. Load the save, pick the country you want the replay for, play. Type in the ~ key type in LoadReplay then when map resets to the beginni...

turn date wrong, revision 1.3

I have the Steam version of WON, patched to 1.3. Playing the January 1805 scenario, my turn date indicator increments by months instead of weeks, eg in the Feb 18-25 turn, my date shows July 1805. My PBEM opponent's date shows properly, as the Feb 18-25. Anyone have a clue as to what's wrong with my...

Re: How To PBEM

Anyone know how to get replay working with Wars of Napoleon, using the .rpl files?

I start the game, load the .hst file, select a nation, play
Then I do a ctrl-~ to bring up the console, type in LoadReplay <path to .rpl file>
Nothing happens.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks for any help.

I assume like other Ageod games that each player will make the turn, and then send to the gamemaster for execution?

Re: [PON] Pride Of Nations - Newbies GC PBEM

I'm interested. According to Steam I've played it for 12 hours, but last in 2017, and would consider myself a complete newbie.

I'll have to study up a bit on it before deciding on a country.

Re: In the meantime, what do you play and why?

I'm having a great time playing the new game Aggressors: Ancient Rome. It's a 4x, currently release scenario is set in the time of the Roman Republic generally at the start of the Pyhric and Carthagenian Wars, and the struggles between the various heirs to Alexander. 19 playable factions, including ...

Re: Options and ratcheting up the AI challenge

Thanks for those tips and insights. I was floundering, other than the one goal of keeping the Prussian army in existence till it can modernize. Obviously I need to spend more time pondering the geographical realities and possibilities, relative to the other countries objectives.

Re: Options and ratcheting up the AI challenge

Informative post. Sure hope it encourages others to try some solo games. I actually have those settings pretty much in my current game. I'm trying something kind of odd, I guess, a long-term type experiment playing Prussia solo. I'm in December 1805 right now, France has defeated Austria, and in the...

I hope this answers your question:

Having selected a leader, look at it him in the stack panel. If his portrait contains a unit type symbol in the upper right corner, hovering over that symbol will display the units that are directy assigned to the leader.

Re: Help us test the ECW 1.02 update!

Seems like we will have to replace the genera.opt, unfortunately that'll force players to re-enter their serial number after patching. Don't seem like we have much of a choice, though. Replacing the general.opt WILL NOT fix the large log problem. Seriously, I've said it several times now, the evide...

Re: Help us test the ECW 1.02 update!

There is no "general.opt" file in the patch, where the log line in question that PhilThib commented is located. I do not know whether a patch can edit a file or not. I suppose you have to edit it manually. That's actually a different problem. PhilThib's fix was for how many lines are writ...

Re: Help us test the ECW 1.02 update!

1.02RC installed. Update of version number confirmed. 1) Main.log size NOT fixed. The main.log is still growing at approx 150 meg per turn. A huge number of repeated entries in the log. In your release notes above you mentioned the log using too much MEMORY. It's too much DISK SPACE, too many writes...

The massive log

Stating the obvious, but please in the next patch or hotfix take out the repeated main.log strings like: (Reporting) Prep'ing Slave Those repeated strings are 99% of the log and can't possibly be useful for debugging, repeated so many times. Probably many if not all of the log related CTDs would go ...

Re: No war supply or money in Grand Campaign

The option 'auto-buy replacements' will eat up war supply when turned on. Don't know if that is on in your game, but take a look.

When I turned that option off in my game I started seeing much more money and war supply.

map scroll lag problem solution for those with Windows Defender

I was having a very bad map scroll problem with the game, until I followed the solution suggested by Chrisleko over at the Matrix forum:

added an exception for ecw.exe to Windows Defender

map scroll is now smooth, as in other Ageod games.

Re: A Full Campaign played... two years after my first.

Very interesting and encouraging read. I want to start a campaign now, in that rather sandbox mode. If one does not play Napoleon as intent on unprovoked conquest, but instead simply wanting to safeguard his empire and extend his reforms/restructuring, will the AI offer a challenge? Will it force hi...

I do not intend this as a complete AAR, just thought it might be interesting to see how the Sea Lion scenario plays out, British player vs the AI. I'll make occasional posts as major events occur. The scenario starts after a French landing at Hastings, with close to 300,000 men. The British have loc...

I have not yet decided what to do in case of (likely) conquest of England by France... I am open to suggestions here. One option would be to try to create a forced eace treaty (like Tilsitt / Pressburg) with what Napoleon would have probably "asked", but then we should decide where the game goes af...
