My apologies for the delay in responding, Sir. When playing in a battle against an opponent from the other side (USA or CSA), you will usually play as the side you sign into, but when you play in a battle against an opponent from your own side (called a maneuver in this case), you can play as either...

Recruiting Officers for American Civil War Game Club!

A club of ACW wargamers is actively recruiting new officers to fight under either the Union or Confederate Flags. This wargaming club is composed of many skilled and experienced wargamers who enjoy playing various pbem games including the HPS/Tiller series and several others, with an increasing numb...

I originally assaulted with only the 4 divisions, because I knew it was likely that you would reinforce them, but I had no idea with what or from where, knowing you could at that time move forces from either Virginia or even from out west. Honestly, I wanted to hold a reserve so I could either assis...

The game was nothing short of challenging. Charles put up an excellent defense. I wanted to move my forces out to stretch his forces as thin as possible and then I had the intention to focus concentrated attacks at (what I hoped would be) thinned out points when the opportunities arose, but those op...

Holiday greetings to all. I have been away from the game and the forum for the last few weeks, but I wanted to share my thoughts to this game I was honored to play with Charles in a short summary. I wish we had decided to do the AAR from the beginning, because there was much impressive maneuvering a...

I am currently playing this game against Charles, which has been quite a fun match. I might be able to add that prior to this engagement Meade's force was "stuck behind enemy lines" so to speak. I was attemting to move him through an enemy occupied region to reach a safe place to recover from a fail...

Looking for one opponent for Revolutionary War Campaign

I've been away from the game for awhile due to computer issues but I would like to try this game again. I would like to find an opponent for the "Whites of their eyes" campaign. I would prefer to be US to start, but I'm willing to play either side after the first game. I'm using 1.08, and I prefer t...

War of 1812 opponent?

I would like to play as either side in this campaign. I am using the new official patch 1.08, and I can do at least 4 turns per week, for sure. I am open to settings though I do prefer to play with historical attrition. This would be my first time playing this campaign, but not with the game or pbem.

I have to agree that I don't think any leader is promotable to 4*. The "Promotable? Yes" Just means that you can promote him from the rank you receive him at (Maj Gen**) to a 3* Lieutenant General. I think about every general says that they are promotable, but unless his command performs well in bat...

I can't imagine a more schedule friendly game system than pbem. I have a busy schedule, and it can be erratic also and change day to day, week to week. But during that one or maybe two times during the day that I have a moment at home and can do something I wanna do, the turns are waiting in the mai...

Love the PBEM system! Makes multiplayer possible if you have difficulty organizing exact times of day with opponents (busy schedule or what have you). I hope this system or something like it persists! For my vote, I play against the AI to get familiar with controls, but then the real learning and st...

I am a very big fan of Aegod games since discovering a hard copy of AACW in a local game game store. I have just purchased BOA2 and I intend to purchase others eventually, in hard copy form, as I love that they have taken historical strategy games in such a serious direction. I love the PBEM system ...

American Revolution - beta

Looking for an opponent for a revolutionary war campaign. I just bought this game not long ago, but I would like to learn by jumping right in. I don't mind playing as either Yanks or Brits, and would be open to switching sides afterwards. I have loaded the 1.08rc11 beta version. I am not too...

The East and West '62 campaigns are good, but they are significantly longer and when each person plays as north and then south, one round would take longer than an entire battle scenario tournament. And having 3 battle scenarios lends itself well to a 3 tiered competition. The scenarios may well be ...

Well, I'm not sure. Athena might just be putting the whoopin' stick to you. Did you play it a few times, trying different things out? Also, did you switch and play as the USA to see if you would win each time? Like I said, you could be right, but I think these scenarios would be excellent arenas for...

I dont mind using rodmans, columbiads, 20lb parrots, or even siege guns in forces that I intend to move, I just try to concentrate them in forces that I don't intend to move as far or as fast. I always keep lighter forces in the area of these, and I try to play each to their strength.

I don't know the precise details to it, but I have noticed that after capturing certain border state cities with recruitment centers (the little white tents) there seems to be an increase in the units available in that states pool. Battle Scenario Tournament?

I was curious if there would be any interest from anyone, in a tournament of the battle scenarios of AACW. Grant certainly had periods where he would drink to excess, this happened in his early army service, long before the war while posted in California. That surprised me the first time that happened. I knew it had happened out of game, but I didn't think he would be removed from in-game use, until a PBEM not too long ago. I'm sure though, that he didn't mean to let you down.
