On May 20th, 2009, Caccio was nominated for the Service Commendation Medal for his "Battle Reporter" utility. His nomination occurred while I was away from the forums for several days. At that time, medals of high dignity such as the Service Commendation Medal required not only a nomination, but mu...

PhilThib, while you and Pocus are looking into this, you might want to take a broader look at the whole crisis module. To me, having now played this game seriously for six months, it is a complete "black box"; I have no idea what goes in or comes out, from either a gamer's or a data perspective. Thi...

I enjoy testing alternative histories, so I tried the DOW on Austria. France did not come to my aid, at least in the first few turns, and the Austrian army cleaned my clock. Historically, I think that makes sense. Pied-Sard never stood a chance against Austria in 1859 without French help.

Sagji, you've clearly done the research on this, and a nice job of translating event script into narrative, so I hesitate to quibble. However, if I understand the Italian Unification Events.sct file correctly, the morale and VP penalty suffered by Austria lasts for only 20 turns after Piedmont goes ...

I've calmed down, and I appreciate the interest you've both taken in my little problem. I've now patched over 1.01o with 1.02, run the game, and everything seems to work fine. The issue arose only because I have tremendous respect for Pocus, and I tend to take what he says seriously, even when I don...

With all due respect, YR, how am I supposed to make a "normal new installation" when the only version of the game I have is 1.01o?

Queeg, if you're asking whether I bought the game, I did, by direct download from Ageod months ago. I've patched over that version many times, and I'll patch it again with 1.02 if I have to. However, since Pocus recommends patching 1.02 over an "unpatched PON", I'd just like to know where I can find...

I think existing battle engine could be adapted with a small change. You now have fire combat in rounds; when range closes to zero it becomes an assault, with cohesion, discipline and rout checks being dominant. Incorporate charging cavalry with another phase between fire combat and assault: again r...

Yes, Ribbon, that's what the Monroe Doctrine is all about: The good ole US of A safeguards the entire Western Hemisphere and as much of the rest of the world as we feel free to offend, in the name of Truth, Justice and the American Way! :mdr:

It makes perfect sense: the colonial troops are so busy selling the stuff in the wagons to the natives, to augment their lousy pay, that they forget to forage for, or to defend, themselves. I actually saw this happen in Vietnam in 1971, almost got myself shot on the spot for interfering.

To follow up on Chonman5's post earlier tonight, I hope we all appreciate how special AGEod is: I've been playing their games a little longer than he by several years, and I continue to be amazed by the unique vision of the two Phils, not just for each game, but for the community of players they att...

I really appreciate the new F11 listing of economic structures, especially the calculation of "margin". I've been keeping track of all this until now using an Excel spreadsheet, at a cost of at least 15 minutes per turn. Now I can concentrate on making war, and spend less time making my citizens and...

Turn Excess Capital into Prestige through Culture

I have an idea that I hope will improve this game: As a player I've been frustrated that my sucessful economy has been penalized, sometimes I think punitively, by "New Business Emergence", which is the decay factor for Capital. Yet I struggle in sometimes contorted ways to gain the true game currenc...

Pocus, you seem to have hit upon the mother lode of inspiration here! I offer my own small contribution, telling of the times (and ours!) but not very humorous: "France is founded upon property, property, property." Clemenceau

If those are your choices, by all means play Rise of Prussia first. It is relatively simple, like WIA and Napoleon's Campaigns, and it has the gorgeous terrain graphics that all AGEod games shared before PON. Also, it is focused on a relatively short span of history, so the game itself is more coher...

In my humble judgment, AACW is by far the best game AGEod has produced, for beginners and everyone else. It sets a very high bar for anyone else who tries to create a better American Civil War strategic game, and there have been many, many other efforts. It received massive support from Pocus and th...

I suggest going back to 1.01i. If you'll look at my post about an amphibious invasion, you'll see that your game won't crash, but you might lose your entire landing force to unexplained drowning. I guess it depends on your priorities.

I watched an entire host phase, and learned that my units survived onland until the end of the 15th day, during which time they continue to gain military control and the rebels lose it. (I confirmed this by reviewing the HostLog after the turn.) Their drowning occurs at the very end of the hosting p...

Yes, the Dodecanese are rebel-controlled, but I doubt that lack of permission from the "legitimate owner", if there is one, explains my problem. The game mechanics prevent you from even plotting a move into a region that requires a DOW or right-of-passage. In my case, another game mechanic allowed m...

A good idea, but after replaying this turn many times and snooping around in the game .exe and data files, I don't believe that supply is the issue. I have a merchant fleet in the Medit seabox, in other places my ground units have never failed to draw supply as needed from a fully-supplied transport...

Strange Result in Amphibious Invasion

After declaring in an earlier post that this game is the best thing since AACW, I'm beginning to wonder. As Italy in CP 1850 I stormed the beaches of the Dodacanese, one of my objectives. I won the battle decisively, with the Italian flag now flying in the region, only to be told that I had lost eve...

Thank you both for your time and trouble. Frankly, it's not that big an issue. I've always gotten the tech support I needed directly from Pocus and the rest of the Ageod community, and I doubt that I'm missing very much on the Paradox forum. More for future planning I was just suggesting that it wou...

Too (2) Many Codes

OK, call me stupid (you wouldn't be the first!), but owning as many AGEOD games as I do, I already knew that the code I needed to play the game was included in the download when I purchased PON, so I didn't bother to copy the number I got in my email confirmation of my purchase before I deleted it :...
