We look back with the brillance we think is hindsight. We think we can see all that was wrong and all that would have been fixes 'if just' someone did this or that. hindsight is a dangerous thing to use. You have to immerse yourself in the times and before those times to understand that the US was n...

I would not ever believe that those men died in vain. An entire people were freed. Its true that their freedom too far to long to be complete because so much of the South went back to controlling folks for so many years but the weight of history says they are free. Slavery, either induvidual or inst...

Forge of Freedom by Matrix does both now but not on the scale that AGEOD does with the strategy available in CW2. They have
released a tactical version of Forge of Freedom recently with no strategic option.

Would it be possible to code the game for larger CSA corps and smaller US Corps and perhaps more promotions via time/event to allow them to be built? This might allow for more corps to be built with better commanders. The current seniority system has little to do with favorites of senior commanders ...

question,
I have downloaded and unzipped the 1.06 into the CW2 folder but the startup still says 1.05. Is this correct? The unzipping seems
a bit fast for a 32MB file even when i do it with a prompt for overwrite it only requires the one "yes".

I have not tried the 1.06 patch yet but the quickfix for 1.05 still gives the Union the ability to besiege and capture the entire CSA's "Army of the Potomac in Manansass by just being defensive and sitting on them for a few turns. I will try 1.06 and see if that sticks a burr under the enemies saddl...

I can see the limitations of any game engine would effect how much detail can be included. It is just darn odd to see unescorted trains basically move thru enemy held regions and not be in any danger. On the bridges, tunnels, and rolling stock I think you are incorrect. Rails, even corkscrewed ones,...

I am not being obtuse but trying to understand that if i take the Mississippi does production done such as in Texas still end up in
Richmond for the CSA player/AI to use or is it restricted to the West only as historically it was.

I can understand that (objective points) but the point was not geographical targets but cutting the CSA into parts. This should effect
rail (at least some is seperate from the rest of the CSA) as well as supplies (beef and leather) and some other items and effect production
overall in the CSA.

Does Anaconda on the Mississippi effect the CSA?

Does seizing the Mississippi from the CSA crimp their supply and/or production? Does it seem easier to just go after
their armies in 1863 then worry about clearing the 'Father of Waters' for the Union? Is there a real effect in dividing
the CSA Western 1/3?

Harper's Ferry and trains bug me somehow...

I am thinking there should be a malus for defenders at Harper's Ferry due to it being surrounded by hills and notorious for having garrisons captured. This might be changed or eliminated by a certain level buildup of fortifications that would assume that the surrounding hills were heavily fortified ...

Playing at "normal" and my early Union army under McDowell sieged and captured the entire CSA "Army of the Potomac" at Manassas. Its Dec 1861
and I have taken about 8000 casualties, inflicted about the same and taken 38,000 prisoners. Virtually no CSA attacks at all.

Is it me or in 1.05 is the CSA smaller/more passive?

After loading the 1.05 patch I could not help but notice (as the Union) that the CSA armies appear much smaller than
previous (not 2000 plus points everywhere) but only in the East and much less aggressive. Is it me or is there such
a major change in how they are running under Athena?

Wondering why Roanoke is just shallow sea rather than land that is invadible. Would seem by taking Roanoke and
the two forts there that it should be easier for the Union player to blockade the area.
