Major Tom - Sounds like you have done a lot of work studying the auto re-inforcements aspect of this game. It took me a long time to put together the spreadsheet I posted above (and since then I have changed my opening strategies a number of times, i.e. what I use and where I use them etc... !!). I ...

Artllery Upgrades

An extremely useful thread. Thank you. Just to revive the topic, does patch 1.12 inlcude the new / proposed changes for the Artillery upgrade path oe is this still within the Historical Accuracy Mod (awaiting the next update patch)? i.e. for 1.12 do: 6lbrs -> to 10lb parrots, or to 12 lbrs 12 lbrs -...

Sorry Rafiki, but I think I will accept Pocus' answer as definative :) Thanks for the 'heads-up' on the use of the 'Passive' posture to aid in unit recovery. I figured this out shortly after I had started the thread. As Homer would say.... D'Oh :bonk: Nice to know that the replacement rates are cumu...

Very attractive data there, Aww HeGoBoom.. Thank you question is..What is war? A well oiled finely tuned precision watch or a raging river of blood guts and fury? Perhaps somewhere in between but that's for every general to discover. I agree that it is somewhere in between. However do not confuse a...

Rate of application of Replacements

Not sure whether to put this thread here or within the strategy forum. The manual states: [color="Red"]"The replacement rate per turn, as a percentage of a unit’s full complement, is: Base land unit recovery rate: 5% Irregular: 10% Depot: 20% City: 10% Fort: 10% Indian village: 5% Note: Union troops...

There's some changes coming in some of the reinforcements for the 1861 scenarios since some of them are duplicate units. I haven't finished the rework yet so I can't really put out a list just yet, but keep an eye out for the next Historical Accuracy work for details, specifically Post #2 of that h...

:mdr: It's a cold, cold, cold day before anything gets past Gray_Lensman :) Can't say I'm too fussed about the command point exploit within the force pool being 'Killed'. But I will think a little harder about what 'At start' and 'auto re-inforcement' units I use to build divisions or keep lose with...

Major Dilema..it seems to me that you may have run through the game a few more times than I have. :) When constructing divisions command point efficiency matters not at all. We are in agreement. However if you put your most efficient brigades into divisions they are not available for your Corps so t...

Further to the previous post by Major Dilema, I do not agree that there is any relevance of individual regiment / brigade command point costs when considering Division composition. I have in mind that divisions cost a flat 4 command points regardless of make-up. So my first thoughts were: 1) "A divi...

Nice work; it must have taken some time to put that together :w00t: It has taken a little while :siffle: But a labour of love :coeurs: Have you compared this to the reinforcements overview you can find in the "Doc"-directory alongside your AACW installation? It's a bit outdated, but the main parts ...

Union At Start forces and Reinforcements for April '61 Campaign

I have noticed from a number of recent threads / posts from people new to the game (including myself - only 3 week campaigner so far), this game requires a lot of patience as the inital learning curve is steep (to me anyway). I have undertaken the two tutorials (without problem) and a couple of the ...

Just a quick note to say that I have found this to be (one of) the most beneficial threads (for my learning curve) that I have yet read.

Thank you all. Great strategy / guidance.

I take it that the limit of 4 elements to maximise the effectiveness of blocking a river to land forces crossing over is different to the number of elements required to blockade the river to opponents supply transport (along the river) and enemy forts / harbours? i.e. as noted within the tool tip fo...

Militia Upgrades

Just trying to get my head around the concept of upgrading units. I have read the following thread and wanted to confirm I had the correct understanding of it: http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=9481 If I have it right: 1) Volunteers (Militia) apear based on events? and are considered as (M...

Thanks for the pointer, Jabberwock. The ctrl-c shortcut works just fine (just tried it). I can now happily merge my fleets.

Cheers

Merging Naval Forces

Hi all, I hope this 'first timer' post does not sound too stupid. I have been reading the following threads with interest (along with countless other threads): http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=11732 http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?p=69220#post69220 I feel comfortable with the co...
