Bit confused on these. First: The German CLs in Africa and Rabaul mini fleet. Supposed to be able to interdict British shipping, but how? Do I set raid and leave them in port, set raid and move them into the ocean, not set raid, just move them into the ocean, etc. Didn't see it in the big manual, o...

Well, but I disagree ;) . There is no reasonable explanation for WW1 being the only strategy game known to man without a proper north-south orientation. I am sure this irked many players, as was notorious here and in the Matrix forum. Better late then never to finally correct this silly design deci...

I seriously don't get people's fixation with the map angle! I understand you want that rotation thingie for the gold edition but I would not sweat on it much :P It should have the lowest priority possible I couldn't agree more. Map is fine the way it is. Upgrading combat features and AI are far hig...

Doug BTW, were you playing in the WEGO mode or turn based, army by army? Also, were you using the 2 or 4 player mode? I was using WEGO-next time it will be turn based. I was playing in 2 player, turn-based, but without army-by-army activation. I'm glad to hear the AI was more active in your game. N...

Review of CG with 1.06H Patch

I finished playing the CG as the Entente using the 1.06H patch. AH surrendered in April 1917, so I called it at that point. Overall, the game ran crash-free and better than ever. Review of Major Events: West Front Germans choose Konprinz plan, so no invasion of Belgium. Germans are somewhat aggressi...

Is the game optimised as well? I mean not as heavy to run as it was back in november... It definitely runs faster than it did when released, although some things still take some time depending on what mode you are playing in and what AI settings you have selected. I am currently playing in turn-bas...

The manual says the RP limits are applied at the end of the Reinforcements phase, and tells also that in WEGO mode the Reinforcements phase is mixed inside the Military phase, so the consequence is clear. The problem is that I cannot perform the update of game objects before the orders and battles ...

Initially this game received negative criticism when the game was released. Have the patches fixed many of the common problems that were being complained about? I tried the demo when it was first released and was not too impressed by it. Is it worth a buy now? Overall, yes. The patches have brought...

Well, you wrote you play in WEGO, right?? So in WEGO the Reinforcements phase and the Military phase are mixed into one single phase. That means the Military phase includes the Reinforcements phase. So my suggestion is to play in strict-turn-based mode. Well, the manual does not say the reinforceme...

The rules do not say you cannot retreat during/before the very 1st round of naval combat. Instead they say you cannot retreat (withdraw) during the 1st round only if you've been "trapped" (see page 73 and following ones), unless you got a "surprise" bonus. So you are asking for a design change? The...

Gold Edition Fixes Needed

After playing through 2 years of a CG as the Entente with the 1.06H patch (playing in WEGO), I think the game is almost there. It is massively improved over the original version that came out. However, I've noticed a few critical things that need to be fixed in the Gold Edition to get the game to wo...

I was able to snag an image showing the problem. The only route from Scotland to Dogger Bank goes through about 6 German coastal zones. The British fleets shown left Scotland last turn and made it to that zone off Denmark. All of those zones are mined, by the way, so the British lost a couple of BBs...

RP Stock Limits Not Enforced

Playing a CG as the Entente with 1.06H, and I noticed that all the powers are able to keep far above the limits set in rule 6.2 in their RP stocks. For example, in August 1915, after reinforcement phase, Germany has 46 RP (limit is 32), AH has 31 (limit is 24), France has 30 (limit 24), Russia has 4...

AI Just Sits There...

Playing new CG as the Entente using 1.06H. I have all fog of war off, and all the options to help the AI enabled. The AI still exhibits these behaviors: 1. Basically just sits there. AI hasn't attacked on the Eastern Front since 1914 (it is now July 1915). German IX, X, and XI Armies have ample RP /...

Naval Pathfinding in 1.06H still broken

There is STILL no naval path for British units to move from Scotland to Dogger Bank w/o going through some ridiculous route that take them through 5 German coastal zones? I'd hoped this was fixed. Anyone else seeing this?

1.06H Patch Diplomacy BIG improvement

Playing my first campaign game as the allies using the new patch. CP diplomacy is MUCH better. Went hard for Turkey and got them in the war in August 1914, then turned focus to Bulgaria and got them in as well, despite my sending diplomats to try to counter. Major improvement over the CP spending al...

Thing is, if the human player knows already in advance what countries the AI will focus on, he will (as is undeniably human) exploit this and focus as well on these countries to make it sheer impossible for the AI to get anything done anyways. Yes it is random right now, but that isnt a bad thing. ...

The diplomatic AI is terrible, as you point out. It seems to assign ambassadors almost at random instead of focusing on the the important countries: Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania (in the early game) and then the USA and some of the "blockade neutrals" later in the game. One way to help the AI wou...

Game End / Final Thoughts

With a Russian Surrender in September 1915, almost 2 years earlier than was the historic case, I decide to end the game at this point. With Russia out of the game and Italy still not in with the Entente, the CP is in a great position to finish the war in 1916 by crushing France. The game played well...

RP problem still seems to be there

Hi all, herewith attached you can find the update of the patch. I fixed the RP regression bug. Have fun! Calvinus. I did the 1.06e additional upgrade and started a new CG as Russia. After I saved the game, exited, and came back and reloaded, the RP for all nations was at zero. See attached. -Doug

New RP problem with 1.06e beta

I started a new CG under 1.06d, then upgraded to the 1.06e beta. In October 1914, the RP system seemed to work fine. Each power was able to use 1/2 its RP stock to flip units to full strength. I then saved the game. When I opened the game back up later, each nation's RP stock had been reduced to zer...

Ok I checked the code and I now recall how the procedure works... The 50% base calculation is performed on the RP flow , not on the RP stock, because the stock decreases with the spending of RPs, so it's impossible to count on it . So, for example: if you get 12 RPs per turn, you can spend max 6 RP...

RP problem confirmed

I went ahead with my next turn (Nov-Dec 1915) and had the same problem with RP use in the reinforcement phase. German flow is 12RP / turn German RP stock at start of turn is 13RP, so per the manual, Germans should be able to use 7RP this turn flipping units back to full strength. Then I did a test: ...
