The plan at first manassas was to feint twice at the center and swing round for the main assault at the flank correct? At least that's how I remember the Union strategy to be. EDIT: Didn't notice the picture, where'd you get that from anyway? A better example of a clusterf*** is Shiloh. Of the books...

If you lose, you're learning something, remember young padawan :mdr: . Download the patch also, it helps to get used to the new features early, and they greatly enhance replayability with the stance orders and such. Also, put the engagement delay on long, it's pretty interesting...in a good way of c...

Also, either you or Banks needs to update your AAR thread, I want to see these bold moves of which you speak  !

You'd have to have loaded the various v1.13e Public Beta updates to understand exactly what I meant by suggesting this be added to the 1861 Campaigns w/KY scenarios and not the original 1861 scenarios. These are separate variant scenarios with a different handling of Kentucky neutrality of the main...

I always thought it was quite entertaining to have to use McClellan, I don't see why pople would place him elsewhere :D ! All you have to do is put him in a position in which the South has no choice but to attack him and you no longer have to worry about attacking  . What would this effect...

Hell, I'll do it...oh wait,"...a 'few GOOD people'!" I guess I'm out :D . Seriously though, I'd do it if I was able to find out how this whole PBEM thing works first, along with any strange "house rules" this game apparently has, I personally think it balances itself out though by historical attriti...

Also, once you start the larger campaigns, play with historical attrition on so you can get used to the idea of keeping your armies near hospitable regions and good supply lines, as much as I don't, I at least know I should :D !

Speaking as n00B_SaUcE myself, I would recommend the following... ⋅ Read the manual. ⋅ Play the Tutorial. ⋅ Read the Wiki. ⋅ Complete the following Scenarios in order: -1st Manassas(Mainly to learn about the new corps/division system until 1862) -Shiloh -Atlan...

I like some of the points being raised here, particularly the ones about the Emancipation Proclaimation and the US election in 1864. I think if the South had been able to prevent either of those, they would have unfortunately won the war. I say unfortunately because of the causes and other things I'...

I decided to keep up the siege and I ended the turn and the Wasgington garisson surrendered and I won the game with 161NM compared to the 150NM I need to win, thanks for the advice, if I had given up Washington I would have lost.

Need some advice regarding my campaign.

Ok, I just got back into this game, I played it for like, 2 weeks when I got it last year and never picked it up again so I forgot everything  ! I decided to start up the Eastern Campaign as the Confederates as a crash course in getting my %^&* kicked but I ended up wanting to finish it, t...

I'm hoping to finally have this game under my fingers a...

Is each side going to have their corps formations delayed or the division formations delayed? I know that corps weren't used properly at the start of the war, in fact, all I can think of is Johnston's "army" during 1st Manassas...two incredibly oversized divisions, making Johnston technically a corp...

I forgot, do they do that when they're unactivated? Also, it would be in my best interest to concentrate my forces in two or less counties in order to have the entire army converge on a single point of attack right, as they can't move two counties to support a corp?

Forming Armies and Corps...alright and some noob questions as always.

What influences what an army's name will be? Is it based on region, county, area, state? How do I make a corp join a specific army? Does proximity to a certain Army's HQ stack determine which army the corp goes to? I ask because I had some trouble with this in the Shiloh scenario when both Buell and...

I play the South, mainly because they were one of the most...colourful armies of all time. I somewhat prefer their somewhat ragtag clothing over the Union. It just goes to say, it's not the uniform that does the fighting. I also just like to forget causes and play the game for what it is, the past i...

It's better to group divisions in a way that you would want as an actual CW leader. Which means that if you were the only division able to make an attack or a rearguard action, what would you want? I usually use all infantry except for maybe one sharpshooter element, 4 artilley batteries, and a cava...

I don't have the time to look at the file right now but is there a chance that the enemy garrisons were able to convert the military control under 5% before your corps was able to retreat? As for the edit question I would guess that it's not allowed in the game engine to allow your men to retreat in...

well...those results go to show that math does help, but it can't prepare you for something like that up above. At first I was trying to calculate everything, but then it just turned into "send this corps here and this corps here *crosses fingers*" and math went out the window. If I had used math, I...
