I've just concluded a 1776 campaign with a personage well know in these precincts (and alas, my muddling led the British Empire to an early capitulation). We've now switched sides for another match. I'm not surprised WIA is still being played, frankly. I think it is the most elegant, if not the most...
In the same save, various American elements will not restore hits, despite being at 100% supply, on depot, with replacement chits available, for multiple turns.
Another suggestion (in a crowded field - sorry!): The only way I produced so many Lt Inf in that game with Ebbingford was by parking the sole leader with training ability (the Chevalier de Levis) in Montreal for nearly the entire game and having him do nothing but train up the militia. That alone ac...
Garrisons should be small and cost replacements... not sure these troops are really abusive. I don't think I'd say "abusive", but certainly implausible to the point of straining credulity in certain cases. In a recent FIW game I played with Ebbingford, for example: after raiding and gaining control...
I've had a mixed force at Augusta for several turns now. Auto-garrison militia keep popping up, I keep slamming them down. The last turn, the garrison surrendered, so I gained 1 NM - but a new garrison immediately turned up. I can probably milk this situation for several turns to come, probably gain...
How can experience concept in age reflected in ROP more while regulars can gain experience (The ones had intense battles but not losing elements chits) but not changing status to Elite? Not sure if I understand you, Baris, but I think you're asking how the game refelcts units gaining combat experie...
Dunno where the balance should be, but upgrade chance is still there! :w00t: At the moment I'd say the balance is right where it ought to be. Rapid changes in the quality of a unit make sense when you're modelling armies essentially created from scratch, as in AWI and ACW. Not so much wh...
Troops do not upgrade to elite anymore. IIRC, TrainAutoUp was removed from all units in the DB at some point. Odd I can't find it in the Read Me, but randomly flipping through some unit files I see none have it, unlike e.g. the units in AACW. I tried sifting though patch update threads, but no luck...
Where else would it make sense to allow FRA Builds? Low Countries, on the grounds that as well as Holland/Austrian Netherlands it also represents the French frontier fortresses in Picardy, Champagne, Lorraine where regts would ordinarily be mustered? Though increasing the limit in the France OMB to...
Nikel wrote:The map of RoP covers a great part of the operations. Depending of what the modder(s) want to do should be expanded to west (Rocroi) and south (Mantua)
Which as it happens would also provide an excellent map for the War of the Austrian Succession - just to point that out.
I suppose you have to be a European to want to play a game based on the "30 Years War!" It does nothing for me - at all! Where is AGEOD's market? Where do they get sales from? USA! Make games for the market. See? t Yes, I suspect the N. American market accounts for the majority of sales, though hab...
Next, are there any plans in the works about an expansion? The War of the Austrian and Polish Successions were directly mentioned as possible candidates in Phillipe's interview I watched on You Tube. Just curious. Candidly, I think such an expansion is much more likely to come from a modder than th...
what units if any should go in the corps or army stacks but not in the divisions. I'm thinking here of reserve artillery and spare cavalry units and also support units such as medical and signals. I don't know if this is the most sensible practice from a force-maximization POV, but I generally use ...
With the addition of many more generals, especially for the Union side, since the original version of the game, I now have a kind of quandary - What do I do with them all? By early 63 the Union has enough leaders to man all sixty divisions, all detached forces, and every last garrison. I wish I coul...
In a Apr61 campaign, in the first few months of 61, under 1.16 rc7: I'm hosting as CSA. My opponent is reporting that for the last two turns (late June, early July) he's been able to select Total Blockade and is asking whether this is WAD. AFAIK and having reviewed the release notes, this isn't a ne...
Excellent! Adjusting this downward is going to make a really important improvement to this game, IMO. No more "8th battle of Dippoldswalde"! And it'll likely solve another perennial problem: the crazy NM swings which come from these repeated battles, when ground-down elements start dying ...
Certain combat units (e.g. Hessian Leib Gd Cav) costs 0 command, when it seems they should probably cost 1. Perhaps this was a design decision (on the grounds that these were small units maybe?) but can anyone detect a pattern or otherwise know why these units should cost nothing to command? Or was ...
1) According to the discription of the multinational commander trait, there is a malus if units of a different nationality are commanded by a leader who doesn't have the trait. How big is this malus? Not as far as I can tell - send a Russian general to command Swedes (the ancestral enemy) and there...
One of the last ROP great problem is battles shold result in more cohesion losses. Cohesion being lower after battle should hinder new battle to start immediatly. This was a very perceptive and important observation, which as far as I can tell seems to have gone unnoticed. The Seven Years War shoul...
I guess that the newly-rediscovered importance of loyalty to unit builds makes this matter a bit more than previously. But I can't say I've ever paid much attention before.
oberst_klink wrote:ALL troops I assembled and sent into KY to meet the rebel threat lost 90% (!!!) of their strength right after I moved in, without any combat whatsoever.
This threw me for a loop too - the explanation is in this thread:
So this isn't what's supposed to happen if I "interfere" with the AI orders for a turn? I'm only asking because it seems that if this is the case, playing the Union solitaire is not really an option. As we all know, the CSA AI is prone to bizarre behaviour. Apparently, the only way to correct Athena...
Playing USA solo, 1.16rc7, I went back a turn to "correct" one of Athena's silly moves, opening the CSA side, changing the move, saving it, then processing the turn. Since then, every time I process the turn, I get the "Opponent's turn is missing, do you really want to process the turn, thus reverti...
