I have BOA + AACW. I'm not really interested in NCP because of the subject. I'm not sure about buying BOA:WIA yet. I'll have to read something that jumps out at me as being a huge improvement over the first. Any AGEOD release will be on my radar as a possible purchase, just depends on subject matter...
By the way, also bear in mind that ships can only bombard in support of a land combat on an adjacent land area... or as a reply to a land unit bombard. They will not bombard "alone".
Hi The button is for NOT bombard. You will bombard by default. In any case, the tooltip should confirm this. In a previous patch there was a mistake with this and the button worked opposite that what the tool tip said but it is fixed on latest patches (1.10 up) Regards :bonk: 2 different answers, p...
My apologies if this is common knowledge, but I haven't played AACW in many months and was wondering if the bombard button is for bombarding or not bombarding as I vaguely remember it being for not bombarding the last time I played? Wondering if this has changed? A quick search didn't turn up recent...
I just got in a quick Shiloh scenario as Union with patch 1.10b and that has to be my best experience with AACW yet. I think it was all due to AI: Improved: the 'Force In Being' algorithm has been improved. The AI will now consider better if remaining in place is not the best 'move'. The scenario fe...
I got Price of Freedom late last week and can't put it away. It is a beautiful game and the rule system simulates the war very well. Highly recommend it. It's sort of like AACW in that it's deceptively simple, but there is a lot going on right under the surface. You really have to pay attention to g...
Played the demo Montjoie scenario, it is quite a fun little game. Took me 3 or 4 turns to figure out what was going on and by then it was too late, I lost all 3 cities and England won leure:
I'll definitely give it another go and will consider purchasing.
Pocus, I just sent an email to you on this issue. I upgraded to vista but forgot to move my AACW install over. Hopefully I can get a download link to redownload Sent my serial code with the email.
Shiloh. I just can't get into the whole war for some reason so far. I'd really like to get some single theater or even more local campaigns like Shiloh to play with, something under 25 turns
Took a break from aacw while waiting for the division hq less patch. I tried out the beta patch tonight and I have to say I don't miss div HQ's I like it, and if it furthers the ability of the AI, even better
Prior to the release of 1.04 with its new combat model, the mod as I designed it resulted in less destroyed elements and lower overall casualties in battle. Ultimately, that was the purpose, to make battle results a little more realistic and to prevent so many elements from being destroyed in a bat...
Can you explain a little why this makes the game better? You explained the tech details fine, but what does this do to gameplay other than less men in a regiment? What does changing the hits do? An example perhaps? In stock, a battle might play out like this, but with this mod it would play out like...
If there is one thing I'd love to see added to this game, it would be the ability to get estimates on troop numbers of the enemy. Depending on your control of the area and hide value, those estimates could be way off. It would at the very least add to the historical flavor I would think. Then it wou...
It's on the bottom right. Look for the little cannon balls and the icon to the right of it. Hover your mouse over them and it should tell you the supply and supply that will be used.
Definitely do Shiloh as both sides. It's a great short campaign to learn the basics. Go wild trying out different strategies to see what works and what doesn't.
Some more navy questions For the union, do non blockade fleet units do anything in the blockade box? It seems like they do, but whether I put a handful in there or 15, the % on the box never changes. How many ships are needed in the blockade box to be effective? Is there somewhere I can see that if ...
2) Is there anywhere you can see total casulaties for the entire campaign? It shows you it after each battle, but can I see total loses anywhere? I'd like to find these numbers too. 3) Just curious, what are the most casulties you have had during a battle? Most of mine range between 1,000-5,000. Ha...
Great strategy. I've been focusing on playing as the CSA in the Shiloh battle. I usually send a small force to the east and then north to Nashville while the main body slowly advances north to Humboldt then to Ft. Henry. I haven't seen the AI make an end around to Memphis like your strategy so slowl...
Great posts, I love this game too. When you add the supply system on top of the command system, it makes for one great game. The supply system is just abstract enough not to bog you down, but just deep enough to keep you interested.
When compared to BOA, is supply more important in AACW? After playing through Shiloh several times it seems to me the CPU takes into account it's supply lines more when it moves. Is this true? Or am I imagining things? Maybe it's because I just didn't pay too much attention to supply in BOA and got ...
In the first tutorial, when it tells you to Merge the units from Nashville with the Corps of General Sherman. Add the '1st Col. Brigade', the 'Kentucky Volunteers' and the 'Nash Artillery' to the Division of General Pentiss(6th Division). How exactly do you accomplish this? I can drag those units to...
