That was quick !! Makes sense now Rafiki - Is this the games way of saying "This unit is not at it's full TO&E, but will be at some time in the future" And as that was so quick can i indulge one more question ( for now :innocent: ) Is there a description somewhere of the icons that appear above unit...

Values on Force Tab

Hi all, Starting the 61 Campaign as the South. Outside Sumter sits the Carolina Department force. Can someone tell me what the 66/89 means in the tooltip for Bartow's brigade ? (Attached screenshot) Judging by the other tabs it is the strength of the unit, but 66/89 implies it is below strength yet ...

Superb Analysis there Banks. I doff my cap. Trouble is we can look at the raw numbers and think 'How the hell did I lose that' The example above threw me. Almost 1000 Combat Values higher than the Union and it was still a defeat. I make this mistake because of my old boardgame days of CRTs and Odds....

Cheers Solo, my bad at the choice of words ( Dead End ). I promised myself not to get fixated on the East but that is exactly what I did, until I lost Houston. But to be fair I am just playing at the moment to learn the system. Strategy is a poor second. But then my strategy is not the best anyway :-)

Thanks for the advice chaps. These Honoured Dead has been added to my Amazon wish list and I will check out the article you mention Bo.

I just knew I was gonna get flak for Gone with the Wind.

Thanks for that. I had 'sort of' worked out it was a bit of a dead end but was worried I was missing something.

Blockade

Can anyone point me in the direction of any interesting items to do with the economic aspects of the war, specifically the blockade effects and the North's industrial capacity and how it directly influenced the war ? I will Google this but some of you more knowledgeable people may know where to go s...

Before I troll the old posts can i just ask what is to be done with Texas ?

Playing as the South in the full 61 game I am at a bit of a loss as to what to do.

Just some pointers would be fine :o

I've had the game for ages but am only starting to get into it now. I have Shelby Foote on audio on my ipod and it really helps bring to life the background to the war.

Hallelujah Moment

Anyone else have that ‘Hallelujah moment’ when you get Command Points and how the whole Division/Corp/Army thing works ? That moment when you just know that moving this brigade on to a divisional stack not in a Corp will take it 2 CP over it’s commanders abilities until you click on the stack and ad...

Hate to say but my problem is back as well. Exact the same as the above chap. You know the strange thing, it only seems to rear it's ugly head when I have played the full scenario and get to turn 3. Running Vista as well. Will do the above if I can. Chris PS Did a reboot and fired up AACW as the fir...

Sorry about this but my install seems to be working fine now.

No idea why it went strange for that bit of time, no new software, nothing in the logs. Ah well, as long as I get my fix I'm happy.

Now if someone could just make me better at the game :-)

Bit late to the thread but.... As a fellow Brit I also have trouble with the State/Cities location. This link is a pretty good one. Shows the States and the Capitals/Main Cities and main rivers. Best of all it looks OK on A4. http://geology.com/world/the-united-states-of-america-map.gif This one is ...

Thanks Norbet I load up the game with the 10d patch and manage to play a few turns then it does the thing above. I am just going to do some testing as it might be me not giving the game enough time to load ( I just saw the thread about 3.5 minutes to load.) But I see no disc activity when it 'hangs'...

Older Versions of the patch

Hi all I am having some problems at present. Fire up the game and it stalls on load. Bar goes a 1/4 way across, AGE 2.0 is above the bar and then nothing. Just hangs. I have to Task manager it closed. This is from my log: 08:48:05 (Reporting) User: Chris Computer: FAMILY-LAPTOP 08:48:05 (Reporting) ...
