Re: Drinking Camel Milk

Speaking of camels, Turkish camel brigades in 1.03.1 cost 24 command points when added to Turkish stacks, which I believe indicates they are marked with the wrong nationality in the data files.

Japanese supply wagon scorches Berlin

While resolving the Early Jan '15 turn, I saw a Japanese supply wagon appear outside Berlin. My initial thought was "graphics error", but while reading the turn log, I was surprised to see one of my empty ammunition trains had been attacked as it passed through, and the area around Berlin ...

Thank you for explaining this. I would have never thought to try the shortcut key since the +/- buttons didn't work.

Re: Sea Mines and Danger

Will a minesweepers attached to a fleet offer any protection against mines? Yes, but minesweepers are coastal vessels, so you may end up going through more enemy minefields and suffering more damage having them along than you would if you swooped in from the open sea. To add insult to injury, mines...

Is there a downside to declaring war on Greece?

While playing the grand campaign for the first time as Germany (Kronprinz and Conrad plans chosen), Greece joined the central powers on turn 5. Yay, I guess? Sadly, the message didn't say why, which is kind of important information to have. Turns out the French declared war on them (I peeked at the ...

Graphics Bug: Robert Howe unit

The unit icon for the American unit Robert Howe (1 company of colonist militia) is inconsistant. Sometimes it shows as french line, sometimes as german grenadier, sometimes as continental line, and changes every turn.

They didn't seem to have any problems doing it a year later in New York, and there we're talking about a much larger army for both sides. Actually it's not the same thing. The British initial landing was on Staten Island, where no continental troops were, and thanks to the 500 ship strong British f...

Load the british troops onto ships, disembark 5 miles up the coast and you've bypassed all the continental defenses. I hate to point out the obvious, but embarking 7000 men, moving 5 miles up the coast and then disembarking them on a beach in longboats (since you aren't landing at a secure port lik...

I'm not convinced that this is true. Load the british troops onto ships, disembark 5 miles up the coast and you've bypassed all the continental defenses. The problem is what happens after that. They probably would have had thousands of local troops taking pot shots at them from behind trees everywh...

It means the unit is going to try to intercept a unit in the target province. It should say in the description bar above the subunit icons where it is going (unit to be intercepted). You see this when you are trying to merge with one of your units or you are trying to chase an enemy unit.

I would like to contribute my thoughts on this as well. Historically, the continentals in 1775 could have successfully attacked the British in Boston but it would have crippled them terribly. In game terms, perhaps two thirds of the attacking force would be casualties. The British had a very slim ch...

right, the script indicates that the promoted Howe, along with Tryon appears (or move...) in the biggest army. Can leads to some oddities I concur. This design decision strikes me as flawed. How is the "biggest army" decided? Do I have to count companies in each army to make sure Howe shows up in t...

Strange Seniority, Brits in 1775 demo

In the 1775 demo campaign, Gage, Howe and Clinton all have senority 1. Is this how it is supposed to be?

I was wrong, Howe is not showing up where Clinton is. I left Gage in Boston, put Clinton on a boat in the middle of Massachusettes bay, then sent the rest of the army overland to Albany. When Howe was promoted, he was with the Albany army, not in Boston where Gage was.

No, it is clearly William Howe (land commander), not his brother. This is the 1775 1.08 demo. It appears that Howe is showing up where Clinton is. I'll need to run 1 more test to be sure.

New information. I left both Howe and Gage in Boston with 8 units (6 foot, 1 artillery, 1 supply). When Howe is promoted, he is back with the New York Invasion fleet, AGAIN leaving Boston with NO commander. The New York invasion fleet only had 5 foot and 1 supply at the time of promotion. I am compl...

When William Howe replaces Gage, what governed his placement? In one game, I left Gage in Boston with 6 regiments while Howe went with the fleet to capture New York. Gage went poof and the armies in Boston had no leader for a few months. Another Game, I left Howe in Boston with 6 regiments while I s...

Not so random

I have noticed some strange non-random behaviour when playing as the UK in the 1775 demo. If the Royal Expeditionary Force doesn't land in May, Ward attacks the Boston Army, always losing 11 companies to British fire and 18 companies to melee. The British always lose the entire dragoon regiment and ...

The Niagara garrison (Henry Harrison and 8th King's) can be easily activated in the second turn of the 1775 demo by moving Ontario flotilla from Kingston, 7 turns early. Is this by design?

Pursuing an enemy in the same territory

Occasionally, at the start of a turn I find one of my stacks (set to defensive) in the same territory as an enemy stack. When I attempt to set my stack to attack and pursue the enemy I am unable. If the enemy is in an adjacent territory, I can pursue. Is this a bug or working as intended?
