System reqs question

Hey, I've been thinking about downloading NC. Tried the demo and it seemed to work alright (the only worrying part was loading the actual demo, but game play itself seems okay). I've read the reqs so I think I'm somewhat solid on that, but still - my machine has a gig of RAM and a 3.3 ghz processor ...

I'm not quite sure how that would work out. The one event I can think of, at 5 in the morning off the top of my head, is Grant's Overland Campaign in the spring of 1864, when he would continue advancing even after being dealt a bloody blow by Lee. But he had superior numbers to keep the momentum. Ho...

Gods and Generals ... was not a great movie. And Jackson's flank march, as depicted in that film, took place at Chancellorsville in 1863. The Wilderness campaign took place one year later in the same general area (Both Federal and Confederate soldiers during the Battle of the Wilderness were findin...

I second that.

Well, actually, I should play the Civil War game first. Waiting for the semester to end and get cash back from books before I can buy this.

It says "Now playing John Brown's March." I take it that's some song that gets played during the game, or is it something else?

Battle Cry of Freedom is a good one, though I find it a bit lenghty on the premise of war (too much details on political moves). At least you see the things coming :) I find the politics, antebellum, and the behind-the-scenes wrangling to be some exciting reading. The Whig Party was great -- too ba...

My local Barnes and Noble had all three volumes in hardcover in the bargain section for $14.98 a piece. Normally the the hardbacks sell for $55. I just had to buy them. I like Foote's books so far, but I recommend reading a much condensed (say, a few paragraphs) summary of a given battle before read...

All regions are rated for loyalty. We can have some East Tennessee regiosn with very low CSA loyalty, plus regular appearance of various Unionist partisans there...that would "force" the CSA to garrison it, lest the regions immediately shift to Union once the North sends troops there :indien: I don...

My two cents...even if there's a lot of micro-management going on here (and from what the guys are saying it's not bad), it'll still be turn based. No stress pressure trying to manipulate every brigade and every supply depot when you have an entire turn to do it before clicking "Next Turn." I can do...
