Possiblity true....but as it stands, I can draft and boost my economic production quite handily. Not sure that was possible in reality.

There should still be some thought on the consequences of the draft in the CSA in my opinion. I'm not sure that there is enough of an economic penalty for it, nor am I sure there is a good method of measuring what the penalty ought to be in truth.

I would support a serious reduction in manpower, probably by drastically increasing the penalties for drafts, to include permanent reduction in production. The old Victory Games boardgame Vietnam had a very nice method of dealing with Viet Cong manpower, accurately representing the effects on popula...

You can add them into existing brigades if there is "room". Many larger brigade start understrength in the game and it is a good technique for replacing lost elements in brigades that have taken element losses. Keeping militia in a depot provides an opportunity for them to upgrade over time and the...

Another thought: maybe the ability to make brigades from these one-element militia units? That would make it more useful to put a brigade leader with them so he could affect a decent number of troops.

:bonk: I ve never had a single leader unasigned, just hurrying to arrive next command In what year are you talking? perhaps 1865, with most of the army destroyed? No it was 1864 and I was well in command of the game. I could have put them into garrisons but it seemed pointless. The garrisons remain...

Now I'm curious what you use them for. With only 30 divs, you have a bazillion leaders unassigned.

There are still way more leaders than can be used to any effect...at least on the CSA side. Perhaps these could be used in future versions to actually command brigades as their rank suggest they should? Let me add to that brigades within divisions with some appropriate benefit to fighting abilities ...

One of the problems in my opinion is there are TOO much FREE MILITIA replacements during the early months. I would agree. There really shouldn't be any free replacements. A related question would be do they even get used? My militia seem to train up to line infantry pretty quickly. Are replacement ...

I think some of this would be moot in a PvP, as there would be more coastal invasions by the north and better use of the USAs massive advantages to attain victories. I just don't have any problems defeating the AI in battle as it tends to attack in a very uncoordinated manner. The point is that I'm ...

First, I'm still stuck at 30 divisions with the latest mod. Just FYI. Also, I would agree that it appears the game provides a lot more CSA manpower than was available historically. In that first game that brought up the issue, I had built the vast majority of the available ocean-going CSA fleet...in...

I simply ran out of divisions. Once I realized the limit was permanent, I spent some turns reorganizing into maxed out divisions, but I was still way short of divs in which to put my troops. Not too mention the gobs of leaders with nothing to do. Putting them into garrisions didn't seem to do much f...

It was a brand new game. I double checked and the files had the appropriate changes in them. Looks like the scenario may require changing too. How I don't know.

Div mod?

I'm still stuck at 30 divisions, despite extracting the mod. :grr:

Where in Richmond? I always run out of conscript points but then inflation is a little out of control when I play CSA! Everywhere! There are gobs of them. :niark: This was my first game, so take my experiences with a huge bag of salt, but I only had a couple times where I used up all my conscript p...

I would agree. I've had no trouble having enough conscript points to recruit troops, which seems wrong. I also have way more leaders than can be used for any purpose. They end up sitting in Richmond visiting brothels and drinking bad wine.

But the cost would be proportional to the number of divisions ... why would it increase, per division, with their number? :innocent: That would be my thoughts as well. How to determine what that is might be difficult. It used to be the cost of the Div HQ unit correct? Why not make it that cost agai...

Ah...so a high seniority guy will likely never be promoted. Interesting.

And I'm still stuck with just 30 divisions.

How do I see this?

What rating will tell me a leader can actually be promoted?

Divisions

Coming to the end of my first full campaign as the CSA. The most painfully restrictive thing is the minimal number of divisions I'm allowed: 30. Any way to increase this? It really hinders one's ability to have more than two real armies. Corollary to that, I have any number of leaders who are marked...
