Re: My first AEGOD Game and game play settings.

My advice on other games: 1: If you like Civil War 2 you like that engine and know the system so perhaps pick up some of the other games of the engine when they go on sale [or anyway!] - especially on Steam. Of them the deepest (but many think best) are Revolution under Siege and To End all Wars - t...

Thanks to all - I will suffer in grim silence or change religion. Leibstandarte - my recollection is that it said that once - but if it does so again will send a save game.

Protestant decision failures in Bohemia

Decided to restart my Grand Campaign as a Protestant: But strange - this time my mine and expert gunner regional decisions never, ever seem to work (after considerably more tries than would generate the 30-35% change of success). Is there some hard code that blocks their early success?

Not at all sure that some of these critiques are fair. For example vaalen suggest that the game should show variations in performance between the various contingents of the A-H Empire. But there is, at least for the first two and a half years no serious evidence of this. And even at the end, when po...

Creating a new army was not in real life a simple thing. At the very least it would take a month or more because it needed signal, military police, aviation, cavalry messengers, in addition to a Commander, chief of staff, heads of artillery, engineers, medicine and on and on. There were very, very f...

Thanks for this - very useful: Couple of questions - why is a French admiral in command of the JTF? I would have though a British admiral would be senior. The other is just something on what is happening in the east. In theory the massing of German troops in the east should have resulted in them pil...

Germany used large numbers of rivers steamers in both Cameroon and Togoland. But both were thinly occupied colonies and I doubt very much if they has luxurious side-wheelers like these!

Best/Bargain Books on To End All Wars

For those of you with Kindle: The first volume of a projected trilogy on the Eastern Front in 1914 is on sale for less than $2.00. By Pritt Buttar and called "Collision of Empires". I highly recommend it even if, naturally, the maps are too small on a Kindle and especially as there are very few rece...

There was just about as much co-ordination and detailed sharing of plans between France/Britain on the one hand and Imperial Russia on the other as there was in WW2 between the West and the Soviet Union. In other words very little. There was more transfer of weaponry (lots of French guns to Russia) ...

Thanks guys for all the comments so far: I have to wait until Friday, a lifetime away, as for some perverse reason my computer can only play AGEOD games from Steam. But one question - has anyone yet played/experienced combat in Africa or Asia?

At one time or another every European nation has been accused of causing and starting the war. The 'popular' view tends to be generated by politicians not historians - in the UK for a long time school texts proclaimed that Germany was the cause and Kaiser Wilhelm the villain for not reversing the Pr...

Vista but not Vista

Not important as game (Steam version as my Ageod crashed for reasons peculiar to my system) works fine. But why - at the top right of the loading screen - would the game say that I have a Vista OS when a: I have never had Vista and b: I have Windows 7? Maybe a Microsoft hangover from the far, distan...

Crtitical Error and Exit:

In the last week have constantly got the following: "Profiler.DLong: Error Accessing file".

Have no idea why after 6 months of trouble free playing. Only related change was the installation of Civil War II from which I get the same Critical Error and Exit.

Downloaded to?

Have serious ddl problem - but am passing on the issue until 1st patch comes out. However noted a seemingly strange result of my download: Should the game have downloaded into two separate points? In my case (Windows 7) into both 7/86/Games and 7/86/My Games - the former being a much larger download?
