Finally beat the game

Playing CSA, and pulled off a win in late Sept. '62. Took all major cities except New York, but lost New Orleans (due to a good amphib invasion) and Memphis (due to a seemingly invisible division headed by Sherman) I'm sure that it's all explainable, but I had a few weird moments in the game. Sherma...

Allrighty, I guess I'll have to get over it. It was about one of my own leaders anyways, so I should probably be happy.

Thanks y'all.

Hard Activation problems again.........

So, I'm playing with the hard activation rule on, and I noticed that one of my leaders wasn't activated, but could still move.

What's the deal?

Unless I can just use the second one, that says it reverts you back to d.

That one's working, I just don't know if it's missing anything.

Any help?

I'm getting crashes in the e version. Same as the poster above. I go to the replacement screen, and it says the game has some errors, and is stalling. Dumps me to desktop. I did apply e over the basic game, so I'm installing a clean version again. I know I need to give y'all some files, but you'll h...

Good AI, without the initiative bonus?

While downloading and running the new patch for an improved Athena, I started wondering just why we have certain settings giving the AI a bonus. I know that it will never be better than a good human player, but while looking at the settings today, I saw that I was giving the Union AI a good deal of ...

Any word on a patch?

I keep checking to see when we'll get anything...but so far the forum has been pretty dead.

I understand that a couple of people had real life issues come up, but that was a good long time ago.

I think that the lack of things like flanking attacks really hurts this game. To me, without flank attacks and other situations like it, I feel like I lose strategy and instead only have to worry about dropping some big stack of guys here or there. I know that this is a game about the "grand strateg...

I've seen it said by y'all quite a few times that Ageod just doesn't have the manpower needed to do everything at once, and while it might just be my total lack of knowledge on the topic....I keep thinking why can't you just hire more staff?

Yeah, that shot isn't the best.

It's a bit barren, so while too much stuff on the map is a bad thing, too little is almost the same.

Btw, is combat going to be the same as the other AGE games?

I'm starting to feel myself get bored with Ageod games...it's the lack of actual control that's bothering me. Battles that in my mind should have been total victories came back as major defeats. A thousand men losing to less than one hundred is unacceptable in my mind. I know that Ageod games cover ...

July 76 We see a victory, but not the entire defeat of the main rebel army. Lee loses a whopping 1600 men, while Cornwallis lost a mere 500. This pushed Lee out of my planned encirclement, but I am hot on his heels, and will do everything I can to keep him in my sights and into battles. [ATTACH]8073...

I've always wanted a bit more control with my forces, even though I know that's really not the point of the game. To add in more regions everywhere, like in HoI3, would mean more options to move around and battle. It would also probably mean a move towards something closer to a tactical experience, ...

Will we ever see a bigger map?

I was just wondering if I am the only one wishing for a much bigger map to play on. It was the screen shots of HoI3 that really got me thinking about it, and how it would (at least in my mind) open up a few more options to both sides when planning attacks. While I'm not saying that this map is bad, ...

Let's do this!!!!!

During the winter....Howe almost dies due to a lack of supplies. I don't know why, as there was a depot there...oh well. It forced him to move to the heights to snag some supplies (don't think it worked, but it does in ACW, so I thought I would give it a try). He and his army take a beating, but sur...

The passing of September to October was a quiet one, with no battles taking place, and save the movement of Howe and Clinton (Gage left, so no more name mistakes due to him) into a position exactly like what I started with. First off, this game is pretty normal, with everything set to normal, except a slight edge given to the AI for FOW. I feel that the game is balanced pretty well, and seeing as how I have a hard time beating it already, I don't feel that Athena needs any help. My plan is a change from what I've tried...
