My fleet is in the 'james river' zone, which is adjacent to richmond and the unique adjacent zone as indicated in the richmond port tooltip.

Is it because my fleet is an ocean (blue water) fleet and cannot blockade a river zone ?

Blockading Richmond ?

Hello,

I'm restarting a new game after 1 year off. I'm using the last patch.

I have a whole fleet in the james river and there is no blockade of Richmond. As far as I remember, this was working 1 year ago. Any hints ?

All I know (again, see my first post here - I was responding to a statement) is that Chess is much, much harder to play well than any computer game I've experienced. Magnitudes of order harder to play well. IMHO, here is the heart of what is wrong or misleading in your opinion. Your statement above...

I voted B but with a stipulation. A perfect Historic simulation will reproduce the "A" situation. That is, if it really simulated all the problems of command, the personalities you have to work with, the political situation you must deal with, etc. the outcome will tend to be the same. Be it Antiet...

I love AGEOD's games. Fact is though that I would have bought WIA at a reduced price but I'm not highly motivated for paying full price for playing a war I played a lot one year ago. If I'm in the majority (and I have no statistical clue about that), AGEOD could financially benefit from a reduced pr...

I'll keep at it, but so far it looks like another in a long line of operational wargames that tries to use AI both for the friendly and enemy side. AFAIK, there is no such thing as a friendly AI in AGEOD's games. There is random activation, random delays in movement, random delays in engagement, jo...

I think the game has indeed a steep learning curve, in large part because there is little feedback provided by the game. That's very true. It's very hostile to analytical minds who wants to understand everything. Learning the game is more easy for 'systemical' minds (as in viewing the thing as a bl...

It would be nice to place recruitment orders for a full division and have it show up (needing further training) already assembled. I would also suggest putting all commanders who are not currently being used into an off board pool that you can simply draw from to place new leaders on the map. Once ...

This doesn't sound strange at all, since the file he is sending to you was produced on his machine. ACW is available in several languages and the "orders" file is put together to be sent to the other PBEM player. His computer would not know whether it was being sent to a German, English, Spanish, F...

Pb with localization ?

I'm playing with english version and I'm PBEMing with a player playing the spanish one.

Strangely the names of his stacks appears in spanish in my game (when I'm close enough to see them).

Hy.

I'm on 1.09e but if I host, I think that's not a problem if you stay on 1.09 d.

You can upgrade to 1.09e in the middle of a PBEM too. I did that and that's no problem at all.

I can't find any reason to do this... really :bonk: Let's say for exemple that your division is full (18 elements) and has not the 4 artilleries and one skirmisher that is the optimum. A new artillery has joined the stack and you want to modify the composition of your division. AFAIK, the only way ...

IMHO, there are really two different phases for CSA. First phase (+/- 18 months) - bottleneck is WS: - build industry - build blockade runners - build militias (will upgrade to infantery after a few months) and combine two regiment in brigades Second phase - bottleneck is manpower/money: - stop indu...

IMHO, there are three kinds of complexity: 1) The size of the map, number of provinces and number of units. Especially overwhelming if you are not a specialist of XIX century US geography and history. For that you can: - play several small scenario to get a grasp of some small sub-zone - print a cus...

The answer is YES. Let's try to summarize: 1) A stack is a group of unit making a 'counter' on the map (a little perverted if you have chosen the option to superpose all stacks in the same region), a 'tab' in the bottom of the screen. By the way you can lock a stack so that it can not me merged by a...
