I have BOA and ACW and Wicked Defense. Seriously considering Montjoie. I passed on NCW- did see much point in it as structured (kinda the same reason I never play the ACW scenarios). Will reconsider if they do a grand campaign. Still irritated over the dropping the Web based play. (Yes I know I am b...

I greatly enjoy a PBEM game due to the competitive aspects of playing against a human as well as the more intelligent and imaginitive gameplay that you see. I always feel a bit empty after I win against the computer. I played one partial email ACW game until my oponent quit. While I didn't intend it...

Writer of Flashman Chronicles dies

Very sad day. I picked this up from the Wargamer. George McDonald Fraser died yesterday from cancer at age 82. Aside from writing a truely great historical fiction series around the Flashman character, Fraser was the real deal. For anyone interested, I highly recommend his memoirs dealing with his t...

Fair enough- I can make my purchase choices accordingly. I never suspected malice. I recognize that it is all about making choices and establishing priorities for limited resources. The web based play was very enticing and I hope it is eventually produced. It is a priority of mine but apparently I a...

Ok- I am sorry to say it is time to ask about this feature again. It has been a couple of months, is there any progress? The lack of progress on the web based multiplayer is the only thing keeping me from purchasing NCP. While I certainly agree that this is a good company that has shown excellent su...

Forgive me but it was a long time ago - I read a book called "Why the South lost the War" or something like that. :siffle: Anyway what sticks in my mind is that according to the author the South had some 350,000 men under arms at the end of the war (this included state malitias and garrisons and suc...

Dan Now, now, don't mistake me for a fanboy. I have been doing my share of bitching and many things here have been fixed for the better. But I am specifically adressing this point about attrition. I seem to recall way back when, that disease was haveing a much greater adverse impact on Army stacks- I believe the developer toned this down after the community howled. If manpower income was not also toned down this would result in too many men on the board. Unintended consequences? So what you a...

It looks to me that Smith did not use rail movement. Even though you cliked rail and probably got charged the expense it doesn't look like you gained any benefit. This can happen anywhere on the board if you try to use rail where none is availible I think (think rail lines destroyed).

According to the survey taken here over 50% of the players are interested in Multiplayer in some degree or another. For me, I find that as good as the AI is, it is pathetic when compared to a human opponent. So the developers need to pay more attention to the PBEM. Unfortunately, I think that they k...

Who is Edward Johnson

Edward Johnson just shows up in 1862 as a two star General. Keep in mind I do not have many two star generals - not even Longstreet or Stuart General Johnson is pretty good also - 5-3-3 or 4-3-3 (can't remember). While I am happy to have him I am curious as to why I get him. So I did read up on Goog...

Intelligence Gathering

This game got me reading Shelby Foote's civil war... I am no expert but it seemed that both sides gathered a great deal of info by reading the other's newspapers. This brings me to the thought that things like calling volunteers, drafts, partial mobilization etc. should be anounced on the message lo...

IMO the review of FoF on the Wargamer was ambivalent. I bought Crown of Glory and IMO the tactical battles were very simplistic. IF you wanted to be sure of wining a battle you played it out on the tactical field. As the reviewer pointed out, the novelty of the tactical battles quickly wears off and...

Sounds reasonable to me. I really don't see this changing gameplay, just reducing a little of the micro management and of course enhancing the AI. I really like that divisions will be tied to a General. As it is now, the number of corps per army is already limited (I forget how many). My understandi...

The point, I think, is the ratio. Sure the slaughter of the Union forces may have been appropriate but the almost total lack of damage to the defending forces is unrealistic.
