Gray, NCP has suffered from a lack of a volunteer with the time, patience, historical knowlege, dedication and people skills that you posess. Lofifly has done a fine job with WIA, but does he have the time to prevent ROP from becoming the dead end that NCP has become? That is the question about NCP ...

As the manpower strength of elements is abstracted by the number of hits an element can sustain, reckoning things by manpower numbers becomes an excercize in frustration. Gentleman Johnny was originally sent to Boston. He argued for his famed scheme when he returned to London. One easily falls to that trap because the game at first glance appears historical, but if you want to play it competetively, forget about history. Ahistorical strategies and troop-compositions is the way to go in thi...

Careful; we do not want to turn cavalry into Panzers. The efficiency of light cav of all nations in the recon role was patchy at best. Most famous heavy cavalry charges were battlefield expedients, due to shortage, or disorder of infantry troops. Spiking cannon was less prevalent than some think. Ho...

The Schlieffen Plan was faulty. It aimed for a quick knockout blow ignoring logistics, the fatigue of right wing long marches, and Brit intervention caused by attacking Belgium. Two more Korps would have been no help on the right wing, as they couldnt be supplied. Schlieffen wasnt the only one promi...

What would be the morale hit of a 1st Bull Run style defeat for the Union?

And maybe we should define gamey.

Commanders we can all (I hope) agree to scorn: 1) Conrad. Had he not ruined the best of the AH army in 1914 and early 1915 with his rail mobilization fiasco and overambitious, costly offensives, AH might not have been the weakling it was for the rest of the war. 2) Enver Pasha. His mismanagement of ...

Hi By the way, as you can see in the attached picture of my current 1775 campaign as the British, the fact that von Knyphausen is embedded with his own regiment don't impede him at all to actually command a "wing" of the army, as by chance, its how i'm using him  You...

Ownership is not the same as command of a regiment. Fusilier Regiment von Knyphausen, for example, was owned by von Knyphausen but commanded by Col. von Bork. General Lieutenant von Knyphausen was busy commanding a division, or "wing." If we are taking ownership to mean command , why not imbed Howe ...

As I understand it, a depot represents not only the hex it occupies, but it's relationship to the owning side's supply line and capability. Do the German forces still have commanders imbedded in regiments, or has that oob/command issue been fixed?
