Re: In the meantime, what do you play and why?

Just started playing Conquest of Elysium .. that is one exceptionally tricky 4x, you can get totally stomped at the start and it can all go very wrong even after you think you are well established It is a very nice game, I should return to it, I feel I did not gave enough time on it. I'm currently ...

Is the AI auto compensating for losses as bad as said on Ultimate General? I did not bought it because of that.

In the meantime, what do you play and why?

Hi, Things are going slow on the forum these days, as hordes of gazillions forumites are waiting for the big announcement from us! :siffle: So... What games are you playing and why? Latest game I played was the skirmish mode of They are billions, a surprisingly good blend of Steampunk RTS with Tower...

Thank you Vaalen.

Communication is low on our side because we aim for the right timing, with enough content to show. This is how it was decided anyway.

Hopefully Eriss is right...

Re: is there anybody outthere....

Hi gents, I understand the feeling, but the truth is that we are working full time on the new engine and the new theme associated with it! I believe we will start announcing real meaty things very soon on it, but marketing wants us to have a lot of materials so we can sustain the heavy fire of quest...

Indeed. There was some significant use of bows and arrows in WW2 from Borneo resistance fighters IIRC. Sorry for giving you an information that is not informative, really sorry. :niark:

Hey bbmike, We are busy internally working on our new engine and game! As for the rest, we trust the veterans around there to help on questions or issues on the previous games. If people are stuck on a technical problem, there is the Slitherine Helpdesk also. You'll very soon hear from us, rest assu...

Re: Any suggestion? All Ageod games crash when loading

This is an unofficial advice, from a player to a player. I used it successfully with Aurora, a nerdy 4X space game. The error I believe is because Windows 10 is forcing on the application the use of the dot for floating point operation, whereas in French we use the comma. So you can try in your sett...

That's a compatibility issue it seems, you should head to support@slitherine.co.uk. Floating points operations are changed by Windows 10 here.

Re: Civil War III

PBEM++ system allows players to post challenges which are then accepted by an opponent, then play games by grabbing their turn, playing, and uploading back to the server where it goes to their opponent's game list.

Although the range decreases by one each subphase until it fluctuates between 1 and 0, so you can fire several time with a high range.

Haha, and perhaps with a few more years and a combination of Moore's Law for CPU power and generic AI embedded in Windows (so you can disable the one in PON), the game will be blindingly fast!

Re: AI - biggest problem of Ageod games

No, there is nothing saved outside the saved game file, AI wise. You are mistaking with logs perhaps? Athena has a memory over 3 turns, but re-evaluate each turn in case the situation changes drastically. Now Athena has been developed over 10 years, so understanding one of its 'pseudo thought' proce...

Re: AI - biggest problem of Ageod games

Hopefully better on all accounts. The AI is making some very good moves already, while being much much faster. And beta has not even started, so there are a tons of improvements planned before release, thanks to the feedback of the testers :D

That would be a major task, but there is no technical obstacle to 'total convert' one of the AGEOD game into a Middle Earth one. I would suggest starting either with NGC or CW2? :dada:

The AI is different and done in a way which is more logical or understandable to me. I have great hope to improve it further than what could have been donne with Athena. We must find a nickname!

Re: Poll. Future of the AGE engine.

The new engine is definitively faster. Sometime, and you know that if you have been in the IT, you can't patch or upgrade anymore an old software. This is what is happening to AGE. It has aged... I have redone the AI for the new engine, taking aspirations from the old Athena AI and improving things ...

Re: Game-breaking error

The best course of action would be to have someone else try to run your turn, often what happens on a computer does not happen on another. If this fail, try editing out the army and associated units from the HST file, if it's not too big a loss.

Re: Poll. To be or not to be hexed.

I must only provide drops that won't incur me the wrath of marketing ;) So I can speak of the engine capabilities, but I can't tell you the subject! The new engine can handle hex if you shape each regions as hex, as in the old AGE game. This is doable, but an engine designed to use hex from the star...

Re: Poll. To be or not to be hexed.

You probably read to much between the lines Nikel. We never at Ageod did a WW2 game and given how we would like to do one, a thorough analysis of contents and needs will be necessary, that's all. For now we prefer to build one brick after another to have things right.

Re: Poll. To be or not to be hexed.

The new engine uses regions!

As for WW2, it is not entirely ruled out, but the AGE engine would not have coped with that (see the slowdowns with PON and magnify them tenfold at least). Perhaps the new engine can deal with WW2 one day though. But not this year...
