Re: Hollowfaith's Music Mod

nothing I can remember about, unless it is hardcoded deep in the music DLL. Music uses up memory, so perhaps the issue is because of that.

I would say it has to do with the format of encoding used. Check if the tracks cut off at the same moment or more or less randomly.

Re: The British take Paris and.....

That would be weird and bothersome if it applied to the current patch. What was the version of your game, when you started it? When you had this bad turn of event?

Re: Pride of Nations has been updated to Version 1.04.5!

PON2 is not considered at this time, because PON2 is like trying to make a detailed WW2 game right with the first game of your new engine. You would most probably fail. The first game won't have gunpowder. And that's an information. Now I don't read the future and probably all subjects can be consid...

Re: Pride of Nations has been updated to Version 1.04.5!

The patch won't solve all the issues of PON/the aged AGE engine, sorry gents. It has been done with spare time (and I know this news can be distressing) and only because Loki helped on events and data. But I believe it improved several things though... I can't promise anything, but if Loki continue ...

There are some events error, it might bug the messaging system. Have you tried rolling back one turn? Alternatively, you can switch to the error logging mode and the error can be ignored.

I prefer to be prudent. Our communication officer is wary that if we start too soon giving you infos, this will slow down development a bit (communicating takes time and the team is still small).

Re: Have Developers Abandoned WoN?

It is indeed difficult to see any remain of BA2 engine in the current engine, except perhaps in a few behind the scene file names.
For the rest, defintively different. Hopefully we can start giving you more details in late september.

Re: Have Developers Abandoned WoN?

That's difficult to not go 3D these days. For one, DirectX is only 3D, except if you go legacy.

But you should not be in foreign lands, rest assured.

Re: Where is everybody? On holiday?

I would like to discuss it more often, but the powers from beyond want to make sure the dev team can sustain news and developer diary every week!
So I would say in September hopefully. I can't say there won't be firearms though, that would be a too big infos to uncover.

Re: Where is everybody? On holiday?

I for one, if I'm posting less these months on the forum, that's because I'm 100% on the new Ageod game, using the new Slitherine engine 'Archon'.

And yes, still simultaneous turn based regions based game! :dada:

Re: Have Developers Abandoned WoN?

The new engine has no common roots at all with the old AGE engine indeed. It is a much improved version of the Battle Academy II engine, used for turn based, regions based games. It natively uses 3D and is very fast.

A new official version (that groups all fixes past 1.04.0 official) is under QA testing, nothing new for people having played the public beta, but it is nice for all others people.

Re: To the Mountians!

Well, my short and sarcastic answer is - the way retreat works in all AGEOD games! The rule I have derived is this: Retreat is to the most annoying and impossibly difficult region possible. In this mindset, I imagine the retreat algorithm is this: where would the player most hate to have forces ret...

About (2), it is a relative %, so if you have only 5% loyalty, you'll end up with 5.5% rounded down to 5% on the new turn.

For (1), the AI might be shy on this RGD. That or it needs more scripting.

The changes will be limited, but you can replace one file for another. In \NGC\GameData, there are fonts.ini files for that.

Re: Landing Penalities Too Harsh?

These are several reasons about no possible retreat in an opposed landing. One is that the specific code was never fully working so was abandoned. Also, game balance, we don't want the Union to be too bold with opposed landing, as this was not the practice of the time. Opposed landing was, correct m...

river transport is not subject to traffic rule, it only apply to land movements. Railroads suffer from traffic rule, but you can use them much more extensively compared to marching with troops. Both somehow interact on each other also.

Awesome, this is a joy for a developer to see that. The amphibious AI is rather intricate and complex. Thanks a lot.
