Re: Crop festival not giving culture

I can see why this confused you. The festival does not even exist for one turn, as soon it is produced, it is removed and you get as many food as you had loyalty. So in practice, the +5 food and +5 culture a turn you see in the description is almost never used, except perhaps if you are besieged the...

Re: Regarding new expansion. Question.

That's a bit rude from them :p Seriously, several provisions have been taken to avoid someone snatching a region, but the one besieging first is definitively not the one who will systematically get the region, because that too would be prone to exploiting. The AI on the other hand will retrocede a r...

Re: Why Won't My New General Work?

Be sure to use the same format as the others files are using, so PNG, UNT, MDL.

Once you have added your unit and model, delete the cached files (one per folder) in the units and models folder. Then launch the game again, and while the caches are rebuilding, don't hesitate to cook a nice lunch :D

Re: Japan only crashes

That's a DLL crash so it is weird it happens only for a single faction. Perhaps that's just some randomness that made you think it happens only for Japan, but my guess it will happen to any nation. A combination of the Windows version and the old engine not going along well. Try to see if it happens...

Re: do structures have a size?

I was going to say, don't add comments, this is a proprietary parser and it does not support comments.

As for the ID, it should be unique, even if you believe it loads fine. Now, the limit is super high, so I suggest you start your own ID sequence at 2.000.000 and you'll be safe.

And thank you all for having played so many years the old Ageod games. Going to this forum is a bit like meeting old friends!

I wish this forum could be ported to an independent new forum though, that would be better for the long term.

Yes, I understand the intent. I think Paradox did that with 2 levels of granularity. That would require an extensive rework of the code and interface though.

Re: Forming divisions for minor countries and other questions

I'm citing from fuzzy memory here... but if the minor is in fact not a true nation but is only cosmetically a minor (units name, flag on unit, even replacement usage is a trick) then you won't be able to mod their own number of divisions.

Re: Rise of Prussia, Revolution under Siege and Civil War nostalgia and engine question

If you use Empires as a canvas (region based, units, generals), experienced modder level is sufficient. It won't have all the flavors of Rise of Prussia probably, but very close to it, like 95%. Then, if you know how to program in a simple language, given Archon gamerules are in text files, you can ...

Re: Rise of Prussia, Revolution under Siege and Civil War nostalgia and engine question

FOG Empires is a good first shot with the Archon engine, I don't regret moving to this new engine, definitively. Ultimately, I would like to tackle again almost all topics we previously did at AGEOD , but our team is small, so producing a game takes time. People can speed up the process by forming u...

Re: Athena does not Repair Rail

You would need to create an event. Athena does repair railroads if an army happens to be at the right place at the right moment and there is enough stockpile. Also, from memory, there is a small chance a railroad is repaired without a unit, only for the AI, each turn (the AI will pay for it). So ......

Re: Civil War III - To be or not to be?

The costs are mostly coming from development salaries, even if art and graphics might need a decent budget, that's not the main cost. So just figure out the price of 1 to 3 developers for 12 to 24 months (sometime 36) in your country, depending of the scope of the game. Now CW3 would be able to bene...

From memory, you can get free WS each turn by occupying the enemy capital and reducing them in size so they are small (like 3 regions). From memory!
