I have an Optimus laptop (NVIDIA 750M + Intel HD4400). Even though i forced the game (or any other AGEOD game) to use NVIDIA card, it still was running on Intel graphics card. Then i found out about DirectX 8 to DirectX9 wrapper, which translates DirectX8 function calls to DirectX9 function calls, ...

Very low framerate (FPS) when playing AGEOD games

I know that the issue I'm describing here is caused by my computer setup but hope that someone might have an idea on how to fix this. The issue is that I'm getting very low FPS (frames per second) when playing AGEOD games, meaning that my system only shows less than 8 FPS(!) on average when playing ...

Franciscus, So I'm reporting back: Everything seems to have worked well. I copied the "scen" folder out of my existing (standard Matrixgames) AJE installation before uninstalling it and then installing the Steam version. I then copied the "missing" scenario files for PAR and Spartacus into the "scen...

Franciscus, Thanks for the fast response - you seem to be always online! I'll try what you suggested (and you're right about Cantabrian, it's already in my Steam library). Since I have a full installation of the Parthian Wars on my machine, it should be easy to test (I also have the 2013 ...

Hi, There have been a couple of questions and postings around the following but unfortunately, I'm still not sure I completely understand it: I have bought Alea Jacta Est and it's add-ons Parthian Wars and Cantabrian Wars from Matrixgames (and I still had the Spartacus Scenario from my AGEOD pre-ord...

Hi Franciscus, Just FYI, if you're interested, I think I found out what the problem is: I got a new laptop with a 3200x1800 screen (yes, these are a lot of pixels) and started up AJE and saw what you see on your screen, so did some more digging. It looks like all this depends on the Windows scaling ...

Hi - I feel your pain. It took me a long time to get into the AGEOD game system (and I'm really only scratching the surface). So I'm nowhere close to answer most questions but here is my advice: Don't try to learn the game system through the manual, you are right, they are incomplete and not getting...

Nice to read :) So I guess you had a kind of epiphany with our game system? What was the most difficult thing to understand? Some say that simultaneous turn based game are innately harder to understand than the more classic IGO-UGO. Hi Pocus, I'm not the original poster but here is my story: I boug...

Suggest you send a email to the support of Slitherine/ Matrix Games , along with your cd key and order info if you can find it, the support will manually add your key into your account, then you can redeem the steam. Good news their reply is very efficient and quick. A bad news is preorder's bonus ...

I purchased AJE originally from AGEOD directly (I actually pre-ordered it). As I found out in the past, my original AGEOD serial number doesn't work with the Slitherine/Matrix Games system and I tried again the method described above and --not surprisingly-- I'm also not able to receive a Steam key ...

Hi, I'm attaching a screenshot (same theater/selection than my original one) taken at a 1600x900 native resolution of my laptop. Franciscus,

One thing came to mind - would you be so kind to check if AJE is set to "Use Desktop Resolution"? You can find this when starting AGESettings.exe in the Alea Jacta Est folder within the "Display" tab.

I appreciate it!

Hi, Interesting ... not sure what the issue is, then - maybe Pocus has an idea? My laptop has a native res of 1600x900 for the internal screen and the UI setting from your screenshot looks very similar to mine at that resolution, which is why I thought you may be running at lower res. I'll take anot...

Hi Franciscus, I'm playing in 2560x1440 (also 27inch screen). Are you sure you are really running your monitor *natively* at that resolution (most monitors will show you within their on-screen menu which settings are *actually* used, Windows might be off a bit)? The reason I ask is because I found h...

Pocus, Thanks a lot for your reply. Is there a general description that I could use to try modding this? As you can see the stack box needs to be extended (both the frame, which shouldn't be that difficult, as well as the content - I assume it's extension to the right is limited). You can see there ...

Game UI when using high resolution

Hi, I'm playing AJE on a monitor with a 2560x1440 resolution and while perfectly playable (so far), the UI doesn't scale that well to the high resolution. For example, the box with the units in the stack now ends a bit more than halfway across the bottom of the screen, leaving a pretty big gap to th...

So, do I still need the office 1.04c first, then followed by 1.10e (and QF 2)?

Ok, I'm a bit confused now - maybe you guys can help me. I have the Release version from Matrix Games (filename ends with "SetupRelease-V101bDR"). Both on the Matrix Games and the AGOED website, the latest patch is 1.04c.
Which files/patches do I need to have the latest version of WIA?

Thanks!

Franciscus, Thanks for your reply. Yes, the UI in EAW is handling this much better. I would be ok with just another window opening "on top", showing the content of the lower window in larger font and a bit more generously spaced. I know that the chances of that making it into AJE are slim at best bu...

Hi, I have a strange history with AGEOD games: bought BOA, never really got into it/played it, bought BOA II, same story. Bought ACW and felt bad about not playing it. I pre-ordered AJE and ... same result. I even bought RUS on sale, well, you can imagine how that went. Then, for whatever reason, I ...

WIA crashes every time

Hi, I have WIA installed on my laptop and I have played the 1776 Carolinas scenarios several times with the latest patch installed and every time the game crashed after about 6-8 turns, which did not happen before 1.01f. The last lines of the log read: "2:47:48 PM [Critical ] TScriptEngine.Parse Exc...

Showing units/settlements etc.

Hi, I bought the game a while ago, but only have time to start playing it now ... One question I have is that it is that while I absolutely love the unit counters, I would like to be able to remove them (preferably with a hotkey) to better see the map and the settlements. The large unit counters als...
