Generals Stats?

I have noticed a number of times that a General may have a 3/2/2 and once I make him a Division Commander I check the stats and he has like a 1/0/0.

Is this a normal occurance that perhaps a General has to earn his stats back?

Any Ideas?

New game on hard...a simple question

Well, I started my long anticipated game on the hard setting. I decided that the first few turns would be more or less the same..... However, It seems as if I may have miscalculated just a little bit on TURN 1 (as CSA). I took Sumter as usual (and got the batteries). I took Norfolk as usual. But I g...

Thank you both.... I guess I need to (sigh) rethink a number of things. For one I need to check the surrounding terrain as I didn't even know there WAS a swamp at Fort 10. Not to mention the part about making them go orange and not allowing them to go red. It seems that I have posted aeound 110 time...

Thank you very much.... You just mentioned something that I had not thought of before and I wonder WHY I would want to do it. you said that "Any forces either inside or outside will have a positive effect". Up until this minute I had always assumed it was best to have troops outside the town ect and...

Forts & the Garrisons

As I get ready to start my first game on the hard setting I have been thinking of a strategy in advance (imagine that) that will at least keep me in the war until the middle of 1862. I am thinking that keeping Forts 10 and Donalson will be VERY important to the CSA in keeping my chances to make it t...

AACW...The need to get away from the war for a few minutes

It seems as if since I got this addicting game that I have been playing 'just one more turn' until 1 in the morning (my girlfriend says 2 AM but I don't think she can tell time anyway). This has brought about some weird things like 'dreaming of a new stategy to take St. Louis', or perhaps driving to...

Personally, I have to agree that magazine reviews where something I paid close attention to 5 to 10 years ago (in fact I would pick one up and read it while iN the gaming store). Now however it seems that there is a site reviewing games everywhere you look. I find that while I may look at games that...

You know the sad part.... I have been playing this game for 5 weeks (to the point that I wake up having had a dream of a GREAT new strategy that will make the SOUTH RISE AGIAN) and am now JUST getting all the mechanics down and feel comfortable with playing. Yep, 5 weeks!!! And this guy will, withou...

I am playing the CSA and won on about turn 23 by taking Washington but have continued playing. I wanted to see IF the yanks would give up or what happened if my morale hits 200. Right now USA Morale is 2.... CSA Morale is 166.... So I wonder if thier morale reached 0 when they gave up or do you supp...

Is the last patch all inclusive of fixes of previous patches or do you have to load each one in order (might be a silly question but I have seen games like that...Cilvil War Generals 2 by Sierra for example)

I guess that term has been stumping and confusing alot of us since we got this game.... But, something you just said made the clouds kind of part just a little. Forts & an old question revisited

Forts...I have always wondered if you set the Fort posture on Orange if it would automatically fire on any ships that pass (especially on rivers). I tried that (no ships ever went by so I have no idea what would have happened) but when I checked it the next turn it was back to the Blue setting. Any ...

I agree 100%, I just did it 3 times to see if the AI would ALWAYS react the same. In some other games if you save and reload it will react in a different manner. As I said I will have to kick it up a notch. I can do one of two things as I see it... I can kick it up a notch and TRY and do the same th...

I have been playing for about 5 weeks (almost non-stop I might add). I just won my third game in a row all on normal settings....turn 34 (game 1) Turn 26 (Game 2) Turn 17 (game 3). RE: Best Cannon

After reading the post on 'Best Cannon' I got to thinking about how much I really DON'T know about the Artillery in this game. I reread the manual and checked the posts but this newbie question has eluded me and I guess I have been just guessing. On the 'Replacement Screen' which Cannons are conside...

Battle % of units without a leader

OK, I am CERTAINLY no math major so I am going to ask a question that is more than likely rudimentary for most folks but not to me. When you have units that are leaderless... If you have say 10 units and (for simplicity sake) they all have 1000 men then you have 10000 men. If grouped in a stack toge...

Wheeled Vehicles & the effects

I was reading a post on modding and the effects of different terrain and I realized that no one had ever mentioned this particular question. Because no one HAS mentioned it I would guess that there is no difference but I will ask it anyway. Does it matter how many wheeled vehicles are in a stack (Ar...

Grrrrrrrr, Agian ThAT never entered my mind that he had to be active. Makes sense tho as he can't fight if he isn't activated or take on troops if he is a Div Commander so why should he be able to teleport. So it has no limitations on the amount of times per same unit I can teleport per game? I can't understand why it wouldn't let me do the second teleport as it was like turn 7 and I had complete control of all that area. As far as the CP is concerned on the movement, I never thought to take that into ...

Teleporting & Troop movement

I tried the Teleporting for the first time today just to see if I thought it was a cheat or not (for me anyway). But a couple of things came up because of it and I wonder if anyone has an answer to these questions. 1. I teleported Polk to Rolla... the next turn I decided to teleport him on up to Jef...
