I would demurr to an extent. In this conflict, the opposite sides had a decent idea of who the other fellow was. I totally agree with this. Most commanders of note knew many of the men they were facing, and likely had a relative understanding of their strengths and weaknesses. I have never used ran...

When starting a fresh campaign before you can recruit units you can add replacements. Does adding replacements early help your newly recruited units say in the following turns when recruitment becomes and option. Basically does it fill new units more quickly. Also I have been fooling around with th...

What is a 'null' unit and why is this one?

The name of the Bde. above the element window is 'NULL.' It likely read the wrong column when naming, or the null was improperly added to the list of unit names.

As the CSA: Chosing which rivers you are going to try and hold early on, and sticking to it as much as the situation allows. The biggest decision in these is the Ohio vs the Cumberland. In my experience, KY's resources are not worth extending yourself for. In VA, things are a little more clear cut, ...

In the Units DB file, there are two fields which cover this: 'Area' and 'AltArea'. If you don't want to deal with running it through the splitter, etc., you can just adjust the unit files individually by opening them as a text file and changing the appropriate values. (For the battery in question, w...

Mechanically, it will lower Jackson's desire to pull off of his attack. You will fight longer than if you were just on orange (etc.). In the future, you may find it is worth risking the additional casualties earlier to a) free up your stacks, and b) eliminate him when his retreat options are limited...

Forget the amphibious landing, go straight in. I am puzzled why with such a disparity in force you have not gone red/red. Even if the fort's walls are still standing, between Jackson's and Walker's corps you should have well more than enough to crush them, as well as his piecemeal reinforcements. Al...

Two things typically make Athena's moves look awful: 1) The tendency of many players to wait until everything is just so, and they have 'perfect' stacks before they move from their entrenchments. 2) Not giving her a fog of war bonus. I don't know how you play, so I can't entirely speak to the first,...

My experience is that all stacks seem to operate based on their individual postures.

As far as the size of the initiating stack, march at a size you would be willing to fight at. If no one shows up, your single unit could be destroyed and you Corps commander may get laid up for a while.

If you redeployed him his stats should be -2/-2/-1 for the rest of the turn. That is a function of the redeployment, not the switching of corps command. But, you are definitely spot on for the exploit of transfering command of the corps.

I've seen PBEM house rules imposing a voluntary restriction on prodigal corps. But I don't think there's any code.
