Re: I Give up with trying to work out economics

I have been too busy playing the game since the release of the DLC to be active on the forums, but this fascinating thread caught my attention. I too, ran into the same strange fluctuations in my money supply, on a number of occasions. But it seems that the problem has been solved by one of the mods...

Re: Poll on decisions

I have never used the land tax law, or the exploration decisions. But I think the point is to have a wide variety of decisions available. We are all different, and a particular game can require different decisions, based on your play style and the nation you are playing. For example, the Gods of Old...

New patch makes the game even better

I am loving how the new patch, which came out today, has really improved the game. It feels more balanced, as if the changes made in the Triumph patch were adjusted to work much better. The problems with the Triumph patch that were raised on the forums were fixed, at least the ones i noticed. The ga...

Re: How do you reduce the administrative burden?

The first thing to know is that AB is also heavily tied to your current money stockpile, so it might feel crushing if you have more than 10.000 gold, but it will recede under this level. Then, there is no much to do for now, there is on purpose not yet a national modifier lowering it, it will be in...

How do you reduce the administrative burden?

After returning to my game, once the new patch was active, I was stunned to find that I had an administrative burden that was more than twice my entire income, which had seemed huge. I had enabled the option to play without the administrative burden, not realizing what a huge difference it would mak...

Medium infantry upgrade did not improve Zealots

In my Judea game, I have taken the upgrade for medium infantry .The decision stated that all medium infantry would be improved, if possible.

My regular infantry were improved, but my Zealots were not.

I s this a bug, or WAD?

Re: Upgrade decision for heavy infantry prevents Judea from building them.Bug or WAD?

Citing from memory, but I think you'll be able to raise HIs in the new patch. That's impressive if you have Rome at your door, they seldom reach Egypt or Judea usually... This AI Rome is amazing. They have all of Italy, all of Illyria, Dalmatia, Dardania, most of southern Germany and Gaul, all of E...

Re: Upgrade decision for heavy infantry prevents Judea from building them.Bug or WAD?

Thanks for the answer, Loki.

I am not sure how well Zealots will stand up to Roman legions, outside of arid terrain, but I will find out soon, I think.
The creeping red tide of Rome is moving towards my borders, and I have refused two requests from Rome that I become their client state.

Upgrade decision for heavy infantry prevents Judea from building them.Bug or WAD?

After finally building the needed Arsenal, I was able to take the decision to improve my heavy infantry. I am playing Judea. I had been able to build heavy infantry inevery province where I had a training ground. However, when I tried to build some heavy infantry, the display told me I needed a barr...

general point, you can check all these sorts of issues in the structures file in the game database. useful columns are: ao - if it is limited to certain terrain ap - if it can't be built in certain terrain az - if there is a road constraint (usually you need the second one for many world/national b...

Re: How do you improve the Temple of Solomon?

vaalen - I love your description of your game. Small faction can be fun, but I have now played three where I lasted less than four game turns; so players who chose this fun need to be ready to restart. Glad you enjoyed the description. But in my first game as Judea, Egypt destroyed my faction in le...

Re: How do you improve the Temple of Solomon?

Jimwinsor and Yaltz331 from the Slitherine forum came up with the answer. To build the upgrades to the temple, You must have two things... Six purple buildings, in other words, culture buildings, in Judea. Level two roads in Judea. This usually means regional roads, which must be built there. This i...

How do you improve the Temple of Solomon?

I have been having a great time as Judea, but I have not figured out how you can build more levels to the Temple of Solomon. I have taken the decision to do so, early in the game. I have a synagogue and a Zealot barracks in my capital of Judea. I have recently become a level three government, which,...

That's a suggestion which was already discussed and made in the Slitherine forum. Have you read this thread or you had the idea by yourself? In this case, congrat, because this is indeed a very nice idea that will probably be added in the next patch :) I did not read that thread on the Slitherine f...

How do you disband a building?

I should have been able to find the answer in the manual, and I tried, but I did not find it. The manual had a section on disbanding buildings, but no instructions that I could find on how to actually do it. In my Judea game, I need to disband the kings palace I have outside of Judea, so the capital...

A suggestion for cavalry.

I really like the battle system in Empires. However, many of us have noted that cavalry plays a very limited role, especially when both sides have enough troops to fill their frontage with infantry. Cavalry often played a decisive role in these battles. I think a similar effect could be create din t...

Re: How do you deal with aging?

An important note is that an objective is not only a progress token but also -20% on government age. So it is better to plan for that and take them when you have an old govt. And if you believe you can"t hold them all, then lose them when you just evolved... That is very helpful advice. Thank ...

Judea main goal is to recapture Jerusalem, so that you can start building up the holy temple (it has no less than 8 levels of improvements and the higher the get, the more impressive the bonuses are) to do so you must bid your time so that either one of these 2 things happen: a) Jerusalem owner is ...

Don't panic. Find someplace to expand. Keep up the faith, this is actually important as your fanaticism is a bonus. It is a tough faction, many are, but the tough ones are fun if you are not wedded to winning. Thank you for the ideas. They make sense. Just hide in the shadows until an opportunity o...

Any tips on playing Judea?

I have just started a game with this very interesting faction. They start with a single poor province, a tiny army, and everything around them is owned by stronger nations. Nabatea is an obvious target, but it is defended by an army stronger than mine. And building up my army will take a long time. ...

Re: Are there some historical leaders in the game?

This would need to be tied to a kind of "historical pack" of events. Why not, it should be optional. Not everybody wants to have a game with the high predictability historical leaders and events give somehow. Some prefer a more freeform game. The historical pack idea is a great one, and w...

How do you deal with aging?

Having become a Glorious Roman Empire in a golden age, I have picked up two aging tokens in four turns. Re: Are there some historical leaders in the game?

Historical leaders can create more issues than fun. Perhaps they will return in a special pack/events, optionally. I don't know. Issues: - if their window of appearance is historical, then with some fore knowledge, you'll wait until you get a good leader before doing major operations or in reverse,...

Re: Are there some historical leaders in the game?

no, in an early version there were a few historically named 3* leaders. The problem was they totally distorted the combat system as units they led all tended to get 8-10 on the combat rolls regardless of the troops they were leading. I think a three is too much of an advantage for anyone, as your e...

Are there some historical leaders in the game?

I thought there would be some historical leaders in the game, but I have yet to see any in my game as Rome, except fro Horatius. At about a hundred turns, I thought I would have seen a few more by now. Having a few Historical leaders in the game, would add a lot of flavor. They would not need to app...
