Well, I was born on the North side of Chicago, Illinois, so it's pretty much of a no-brainer which side I would normally align with. However, I greatly appreciate the free spirit of the Confederacy, and if I ever learn the game well enough, I will make the North eat Southern Steel! :D Because, reall...

Railroad Question

How do you tell if railroads have been damaged in various regions?

Is it visual, or is there something that tells you in the tool tips?

Thanks

Lions, Tigers and Generals, Oh My!

I'm still learning the mechanics of the game. I'm playing as the Union, and was wondering what you guys do in the first few turns or so, as far as sorting all your Leaders (1-3 Star Generals) to plan ahead for creating Divisions, Corps and Armies from East to West across the map. I'm especially look...

Owning a Region

What constitutes owning a region?

ie; a region with no city, fort etc.

I move some Union troops into a Confederate region to take it over.

When will that regions flag be the Union flag?

Thanks

[quote="MarkShot"]For me, I think the following questions about people's habits are more interesting generally: (1) How many games do you have install on your hard drive that you feel are worth playing? (2) Of those, how many do you actually play over the period of a month? How many times ...

Identifying Reinforcements

What does everyone do to best identify Reinforcements that have been created, and their locations, so they can be moved to where they are needed? The ledger screen does show you all the locations of stuff, but there's 5-6 pages of Artillery, for example. Is there an easy way to identify newly create...

Found 'em! With Windows Vista, go into your main `Program Files' folder. (assuming this is where you have AACW) If not, follow along for a moment. Once you are in the main `Program Files' folder (or main folder/drive) where you install your games, look at the top of the window, just below the top of...

Thanks again!

I have also just read the strategy guide over at Wikipedia.

Once I get the Army/Corps question answered (see my newest post) I think I'll be able to start a campaign.

I purchased ACW because I could see it was a great game.

Just need to get over the initial hurdles.

Armies and Corps Question

It seems there is a limit to how many Corps you can have per Army.

Where can you see how many Corps you currently have attached to an Army?

I don't see it in either the Army or Corps tool tips when mousing over these stacks/units.

Thanks

I can somewhat understand the `momentum' question. If you check the turn `detail' notes you will see that extra armory or whatever else facility has been built/improved to increase production. This seems to be the result of `investing' in industrialization. I think that the more `factories' you inve...

Exactly. And the really strange thing is that if you watch the `save-to' address while the game is saving, it shows that it is saving to the saves folder within the main ACW game folder. But there is nothing there. I'm pretty familiar with Vista by this time, and know of a lot of `secret' places to ...

Thanks, your information helps greatly to clarify things. The reason for the confusion, though, was that, in the Economic Screen, they are called `Supply Wagons', not `Points'. That is why I am having such a hard time figuring out how to play thiis game. Contradictory or wrong, or plain lack of info...

Engineers and Saved Games

What are all the abilities of an Engineer? What file are the Saved Games stored in? Deleting saved games through the in-game menu is really slow. I have looked everywhere I can think but I can not find this file. I have Windows Vista. edit; I have watched while the save game is being created and the...

Thanks for your answer. I understand what you're saying, but when I look at and compare actual numbers they make no sense. In the economy screen, under `Illinois', it shows production output of 480 `Supply Wagons'. I clicked the turn button, and next turn it shows output of 447 Supply Wagons. This t...

Ecoomy Screen Question

In the Economy screen, on the right side below the section that gives you the costs, is the section that shows all the production output. What do these values represent? Are they what the output is now? Or are they what the output could potentially be at max? They don't change right away when you le...

Startegic Rating Question

In the ledger screen, list of Generals, the Strategic Ratings are not listed for some of the Generals. Instead, there is other information in the same place where the Startegic Rating would normally be. Is there any other place where the Strategic Rating of a General can be found? Also, has anyone e...
