Just take your time. I prefer my games bug-free. :) Nothing worse then buying a game, noticing that it is a beta at best and then having to wait weeks for a patch to make it playable (just happened to me :( ) So for now (stealing from Hohenlohe) "steht treu die Wacht am Liffey". :leprechau :gardavou:

As I said elsewhere, we can't blame Frederick II. for Nazism. But I have no qualms putting a lot of blame on Wilhelm II. and "his" Prussia for enabling the "Bohemian Private"`s rise to power. And the exaggerated importance of all things military started in Friederich Wilhelms and Fredericks days. As...

The main problem Prussia has is that when people hear of Prussia, the first thing they usually think of is that bumbling bufoon Wilhelm II. As far as I am concerned it was under his reign that the "Prussian Virtues" degenerated. Prussia wasn't more "evil" then for example Great Britain (if for examp...

The story about the officers is as far as I can tell just another of those anecdotes created to glorify Frederic II. ... like the one about the Miller of Sanssouci. If you had a look at the real story behind the Miller, you'd be surprised. To quote Thomas Mann (in 1914) on those anecdotes: "Von nun ...

I'd probably laugh my ar** off watching a romantic comedy (gay or otherwise) about dear Fritz. :D ... but that is probably more due to my dislike of all things Prussian then my taste in movies. ;) But seriously, let's face it. The SYW is one of those "Forgotten Wars" and the studio producing a movie...

Late August? You, Sir, have nerves of steel. :) I just hope that Frederick can die in battle. As far as I remember he had a few close calls in real life, so it should be possible for a cossack's lance or a pandour's bullet to end his life and probably the war as well. Taking Vienna should only be an...

Although I am very much in favour of "swarming over Prussia through a perfecly coordinated assault" I agree that there should be some limiting factors to make this a game which is challenging for players of both sides. After all, the game is not called "Fall of Prussia - Frederick's Defeat in the Se...

Being of Austrian descent (well, partly at least :) ) I'll gladly offer my services to Maria-Theresia. That I would have to come over from Ireland to do that should be an added bonus. :) Since the rest of my ancestors are mainly catholic Silesians or from areas annexed by Prussia in the 19th century...

So we are basically "stuck" with the historical units? Apart from slight increases triggered by events etc? Or do we have a certain number of, let's say, infantry regiments and we can decide whether they are going to be line infantry, Freikorps or pandurs? So would the Prussian player have a cap of ...

Russians were considered "cold" infantry, good at firing volleys. For bayonet charges French, Irish, Swedish, Hungarians and Highlanders. Really? Well, some lessons have to be learned the hard way. :)

Especially when fighting the Russians, who simply loved artillery and by 1760 had something around 800 cannons, "unicorns" and howitzers, if I'm not mistaken (field artillery units plus regimental pieces).

I remember reading that Frederick II. actually despised his artillery and therefore allowed non-nobles to rise quickly to officer ranks, as sign of his dislike.

I'd prefer to have a certain freedom in raising regiments. I know for a fact, that, if I have the opportunity to do so, I'll invest heavily in hussars and pandurs to lay waste to Prussian towns and supply lines (even more so than Austria really did) and be rather stingy when it comes to siege artill...

Yes, neither the PEGI rating nor the German FSK/USK rating got anything to do the difficulty of the game. It deals just with what is appropiate for which age and what not. It usually focusses on the graphics as well. So it doesn't matter that you can wipe out dozens of enemy divisions in the game si...
