Installation Path

The problem is with windows 7/vista but not with any ageod game. Since most people will have moved past Windows XP, then it really is an issue for AGEOD, in my opinion. As you know, several people including me believe that the default installation path should be changed so that it is NOT in C:\Prog...

Hi Mark!

I have no technical assistance to offer ... although it does sound like Bob needs a 24/7 hot line number to Best Buy's Geek Squad! :) Just want to say "Howdy" to the two of you. It's been a while. Hi Mark! Good to hear from you. I just sent you a private message. When we last wrote to one another, ...

Reinstall AACW, but change the default directory box to read "C:\AGEOD\Rise of Prussia" [or any hard drive you wish] 6. Download the latest patch 7. Extract the patch file and run it [it should automatically go...

No game folder is created under Saves

Hi, I am starting a pbem game. I followed the manual's instructions by starting a game (the short "1756 Invasion of Sachsen" game) and gave it a title. I did not issue any orders yet (as per the game manual) but saved it and exited. When I saved the game, a tool tip said that I had in fact saved tha...

*pulls pocus in a dark corner* "Then open your heart son, before than longing overburdens you!" A good response! However, the deepest longing in our hearts cannot be found in any game or any battle or any other thing we can purchase or possess, but only discovering who one truly is - an unassailabl...

The Large Map in VGN?

The VGN map will be the biggest we have done so far, because it represents the world, but actually you'll get less regions to play the ACW on VGN than in AGEOD's ACW, to give you an idea of the scale. I think I counted 7 regions between Paris and Berlin last time I checked. You have extended the ma...

AGEOD has just launched its new website. Point your browser to http://www.ageod.com/ and let us know what you think! :) I have looked at all three versions (France, European, U.S.) and I was highly impressed with both the aesthetic appearance and the functionality of the site. The person/team who p...

Manuals (at least with Nap's Campaigns)

Whatever it's name, I'm interested in buying it. I hope a decent manual comes with it even if it is a text file. Nappy's Campaigns (NCP) came with a .pdf manual that was posted on the user forums. I don't believe it was part of the game's download. I don't know if it was part of the CD version rele...

Thanks (even if I don't understand the engine)

We have not balanced the scenarios to favor the historical outcome. We tried to be the more impartial (fair) possible, expecting that the realism of the engine is high enough to reproduce the historical outcome most of the time, given 2 players of the same playing level. It sounds like, as much as ...

Balancing Effects of Leadership

Hi Everyone, I am in the midst of the Austerlitz campaign (as the French) and both my opponent and I have wondered if the campaign is perhaps unbalanced due at least in part to the excellent leadership capability of Napoleon. To be truly historical, Napoleon's brilliance would presumably be reflecte...

PBEM or Playing vs AI?

Ok, so I am playing the Polish campaign as the Russians. I freely admit, I am not that great at this game, and I am still getting the handle of the game mechanics. But, I feel like I made some sort of MASSIVE mistake as the Russians, and the only thing I can come up with is that my mistake was goin...

Complexity - Let's not drown the potential users

A very important element of Victoria are domestic politics and the social evolution of your nation...if VGN doesn't do that, I don't think I'll be tempted to buy it. So, the question is, are there domestic politics and social revolutions to deal with? :p I haven't played Vicky, but I have read many...

Of course, USA was a (if not The) major player in WWI. Arrived just in time to halt the German 1918 offensive after the Russians folded. History

At the risk of being old-fashioned, I would think that if you wanted a German translation of a famous Biblical tag you would try to use Martin Luther rather than a machine translation. Luther has the same kind of resonance as the King James, and for similar reasons. Yes, I would think Martin Luther...

Hi Cyt, I noticed the link to this AAR from November on the Armchair General Forums, where I am a (very inactive) member. In that case, how about 'The age of Imperialism' or 'L'âge de l'impérialisme' since that is what the era from 1850-1914 is usually called. The Age of Imperialism is catchy and yet summarizes the era. It is true that it led to the shock of WW I, but I'd hate to focus on the negative. So Chris's titl...
