Thanks for the replies. I am an addict for these sort of games, so when I got home from work last night, I bought it and jumped right into the 4 player GC as France. Today I will actually try digging through the manual for some of the bits I had trouble with on that first session. Even with the late...

basic question

Hello all. This game sounds great, but here is my question: How steep is the learning curve compared to ACW? Even with 30+ years of wargaming experience, I found the chain of command rules awkward in ACW and struggled with them (though that is probably historically accurate :) ) It also seemed very ...

I find myself being agressive in the west but more conservative in the east. Piecemeal attacks in the east are a good way to waste your forces and be forced onto the defensive. You want to pick your targets and hit them hard. There is a lot more room in the west, so you can get away with being more ...

Of course one of the best ways to add replayability is to find a human opponent. Several games in a row with the same side and the same opponent would still end up being challenging and different.

I have had the same thing happen. You end up not being able to redeply that turn if you clicked on the stack instead of an empty spot in the region.

I am sure this is not working as intended.

It can be hard to avoid if you are trying to transfer a general into Ft. Pickens and it is besieged.

Somewhat related to the idea of off map movment. I don't seem to be able to move any ships out of the great lakes. Is this intended? This applies not only to ships I started with but to knew ones I build. It is frustrating to build a gunboat in Ohio and instead of showing up on the river, it appears...

Good point! I have always been in offensive posture when sieging since it never occurred to me that I can siege a structure while in a defensive stance :siffle: Since I read this thread though I have started doing it and it works well but I will have to revert to the assault posture approach in my ...

To me, the answer to stance depends on what is happening in surrounding regions. If there is no danger of a relief force hitting the besieging force then I aggree that defensive stance works well. Either way, once I have a breach or two, if the defending force is relatively small, I switch to assaul...
