A plan for the Belgium scenario

In most games I've seen on the period, the Waterloo campaign is almost impossible for the French to win against a competent Allied player. I imagine this is the case here, but have not yet made the attempt because I don't really have an idea for a plan of attack that offers any chance of conquering ...

Will there be an expansion?

With the five campaigns listed on the main menu, including two variants of the complete set of wars, I am wondering if any more small scenarios are planned. One of the reason I hold a special fondness for the original Napoleon's Campaigns was the game coming in bite-size chunks a lot of the time. Wi...

A more recent example of movies about this era is Master and Commander , about the naval war. It made some changes from what I'm told of the novel on which it is based, the big one being that the nationality of the ship the Surprise is pursuing is altered from American to French, but a lot of this m...

All I did the first turn was start working on a coal mine, then I saved the game to give myself a chanced to cogitate. I was given the "national mission" of building the "largest army in Europe" and ten years to complete it. I would also be required to maintain that army. However, I'm a little conce...

How to start the game and unite Germany?

Even though the essence of the game appears to be reacting to events as they unfold, I'm wondering how to actually start a game with a coherent plan. I'm thinking of starting a game as the Prussians. My goal, at least for the start, is to unify Germany and then build it into a stable economic power ...

A few other shorter campaigns would be interesting. Although it would be similar in concept to the Gettysburg scenario, Antietam would be interesting. Confederates operating in the North face potentially insurmountable problems, but for some reason we tend to fixate on those rare attempts they made....

Napoleon on Film

What are the movies you think of when you think of this era? One of the most undeserving of box office failures comes to mind -- Waterloo , from 1970, which audiences rejected so soundly that Stanley Kubrick lost the funding for his own Napoleonic epic. Oddly enough it's a personal favorite movie th...

I just upgraded my PC with a couple of 120GB solid state drives, one for Win8 and other essentials and the other specifically for games. I copied CW2 on to it to see what would happen and referesh my memory of the game. This baby flies on an SSD. I got through the first tutorial (re-familiarizing my...

As far as the interface goes, I like what you did with CWII as the screen is indeed a lot cleaner. The problem I have is that the map seems to scroll whenever I go to the Next Turn button. A hotkey to do the same thing would be an ideal backup.

What happens in game when Britain and/or France intervenes. Do they send warships to contest the Union blockade? Troops to aid the Confederacy? Is this aid likely to be enough to tip the balance of the war against the Union? In the real world, intervention seems unlikely. The closest France came is ...

Tried again just now. This time I did concentrate in Gettysburg to force the Union to attack. Again Lee got clobbered. At that point I knew I had lost the scanrio, but I decided to play on and get the ANV and Ewell's corps back into Virginia anyway. But unlike his historical self, Meade pursued aggr...

CSA strategy in Gettysburg scenario

In addition to the tutorial, I attempted to play the Gettysburg scenario last night as the CIA and got hammered. I was tempted when I saw Baltimore looking undefended and ready to be plucked to meet the NM condition for a CSA victory. But my mistake was sending Ewell to grab it and not joining the A...

I've tried to play the first tutorial a couple of times to refresh my memory on how army movement works in the AG EOD system (the new cavalry scouting feature is a lovely bonus!) but I've run into the issuse that when I follow the instructions and attack Bragg with Grant and Sherman the resulting ba...

I got my copy of AJE from Steam for the special and also picked up both the available DLC packs. My question is are there any more sets for the basic game, whether things like Hannibal are expansions or separate games, and whether they are, or will be, available on Steam. I know that AGEOD in previo...

I am getting a new secondary hard drive for my desktop PC. I'm already planning to move my Steam games there and am looking to move some of my other games too. Refresher on Supply System?

One of the things that limits my effectiveness when playing NCP and other games in the AGEOD line is an utter ignorance of supply. I always seem to concentrate on the position of the armies without quite realizing as I move them that I need them not to run out of food. I was about to take on the 181...

I want to try the Franco-Prussian War scenario starting as the Prussians (and then, in the second or third games, playing unhappy Napoleon III). One would think a game with a campaign scenario this long (more than a thousand turns) would take a while to play multiplayer. By a while, I mean one or two years.
