Whatever new scenarios (if any) you decide to make, I'll gladly buy them to support AJE development.
Then there's also the question of AJE2... So many interesting possibilities for that one. AJE hasn't emptied the inventory of ancient wars and campaigns yet.
An excellent idea! I still feel that AJE is the best Ageod title ever. The system works so well here and the amount of micromanagement is not excessive. Besides, it's such a fascinating period of history! I'm really hoping that this is not the last we'll see about the ancient wars and campaigns from...
On my *wish* list would be to link the PW1 to PW2 including all scns in between, the only one missing would be the Punic expansion into Spain, so as to have a rise and fall of Rome/Carthage and to be played as either, ending in the domination of one over the other. The Barcid campaigns in Iberia wo...
In my humble opinion, it's a great pity that Ageod doesn't seem to have any new plans for ancient warfare. I think AJE is easily the most polished and enjoyable of their games, thanks to active post-release support which has continued until now.
There is a rationale that Finnish-manned units could have been fielded. Not going to argue the point, but I do like having Finns to play with. In a what-if fantasy scenario, sure. But in a game that is trying to be historically accurate with a realistic OOB, no. It's like imagining the British havi...
Yes, too bad there are no new scenario packs planned. AJE is the best Ageod title, IMHO. :( However, I remember reading about Hobbes's Aurelianus scenario. I hope it will be finished some day! Maybe the devs could start making a completely new ancient warfare game using the latest version of the Age...
The biggest discrepancy in the Russian OOB is still the large number of completely fictional Finnish formations. There are whole corps of Finnish troops in Russian service, which didn't exist in real life. It's unfortunate that there are such serious mistakes in an Ageod title. Sadly, I don't think ...
First, a big thank you for continuing to support my favourite Ageod game! I can only hope there will be more stuff to come in the future. :) Second, I think the whole process of installing all the different AJE games and scenarios is very confusing (at least to a simple-minded man like me). I preord...
I'm really hoping to see more ancient warfare from Ageod. If not in this series, then in a new one with an improved engine. There are still quite a few important conflicts of the ancient world that haven't been included in AJE.
I'd gladly support a Kickstarter like this one! Too bad the French laws seem to be designed to kill your economy and private enterprises (but I know this is the wrong place to discuss that!). What I'd love to see is to expand the game to the Hellenic period and even further back in time. Plenty of i...
I'm resurrecting this topic one more time, in case the devs wish to make changes to the Russian OOB. The massive (and still completely fictional!) Finnish division and corps formations are still part of the Russian army in the latest patch. I suppose they are there to stay, which would be a shame. H...
It really is true. And there's nothing sad about it - it doesn't make you an asocial person if you play against the computer. But I'm not going to start this argument all over again in this thread. It has been discussed to the death already in this forum. I'll just say that programming a decent AI d...
I hope the AI will be able to handle the grand campaign. In EAW, it's been having some trouble. Most people play only against the computer, so it's very important to get the programmed opponent play in a decent way.
Wonderful news! In addition to the ancient world, Napoleonic times is my favourite era. :D Two things to fix from EAW: 1. The UI. In my humble opinion, the new one is actually worse than the old. It's confusing and requires more work from players. Not good! 2. Differences between units. Armies shoul...
Historically speaking, Austria-Hungary was a dying empire in 1914. Of all the great powers of Europe, they had probably the worst army, and they were also burdened by a frightfully incompetent high command. However, like all armies, they did also have units and commanders that performed well. But on...
That wouldn't change anything, because such formations simply didn't exist in WW1. There was no Finnish army, just Russian units, some of which happened to be stationed in Finland during the war.
Fictional Finnish formations are still there in version 1.01. Any chance of getting the Finnish nationality symbol removed from these units in a coming patch? It should be a relatively simple fix compared to many other things you have to change and implement when making patches. Historical accuracy ...
Yes, that sounds really good! Hannibal should be able to beat the Romans decisively in pitched battle, especially when facing the not-so-great Roman generals of the early phase of the 2nd Punic War, and then march to the south like he did in real life.
I really hope we'll see some new scenarios! The ancient world had many interesting conflicts and factions, and there's still so much that we haven't seen in AJE - yet!
Those are excellent tips, numantia! This scenario is indeed perhaps the most difficult of them all to win as the Romans. It's very easy to lose battles against the excellent Cantabrian commanders (most Romans generals are quite mediocre by comparison) and the NM losses can quite easily spiral out of...
IMO, the Stacks of Doom are currently the biggest problem with the AI. It's acting like the game takes place during the Napoleonic Wars and doesn't care about proper fronts.
One of the odd things about how the system works in EAW is the lack of historical army groups. In real life, most countries had them, the Russians right from the beginning in the form of Fronts. I think the way it now works in EAW is rather clumsy and far from historically accurate. In my opinion, t...
