siege artillery and coastal artillery

What exactly are the advantages or disadvantages? Does siege artillery get calculated differently during a siege? does anyone buy them? There was a thread about coastal artillery below, but i still do not get the advantage or disadvantage of it. Isn't coastal artillery static? Does it bring advantag...

i guess the only thing interesting for you is the number of prisoners. For your opponent, he will probably miss the captured sub-units/elements in his OoB. I guess this means that you captured nearly all of the troops of that particular element. But for you, only the number of prisoners is important...

there is nothing to add to this (got it from the documentary of Ken Burns) July the 14th, 1861 Washington D.C. My very dear Sarah: The indications are very strong that we shall move in a few days—perhaps tomorrow. Lest I should not be able to write you again, I feel impelled to write lines that may ...

that is correct, the AI always attacks in Kentucky; if you play the union, it attacks, if you play confederate, it attacks as the union. I started a pbem game, and we both haven't dared to attack. Control of Kentucky is a great benefit to both sides, but if you invade, you should have the forces at ...

question regarding brown water blockade

it says, as an example, that you need at least two units to blockade the james. Does this mean two sections? or two units? What about an blockade fleet, does this count as the average of 4 to 6 units you need in other places?

general advice: remember that you can win the war by not loosing. This means using Wahington's strategy during the War of Independence. In short it means only attack if you are stronger (although a good general can outwit a stronger enemy, see Jacksons Valley campaign). Hit him were he ain't. If a m...

When to start buying reinforcements?

Hi, When do you start buying reinforcements a) with the union; i have tried an april game against the AI and find it difficult to incoperate the forces you have at the start (or which become active during the first turns) , esspecially since your command Chain is nonexistent. You have to wait a whil...
