Pocus's new patch

Last time I was here I downloaded a patch created by Pocus that changed the whole nature of the game. I have had to reinstall but can't remember what it was called but I think there were three files to download and directions on how to install the variant. If someone can make any sense out of this d...

The worst case of this was when I bought a game by download only for USA players. There were two choices 1. trygames.com 2.direct2drive.com The same thing happened at BOTH SITES. I never did like Direct2Drive so I tried the oter one and the game installed and played but I had to reinstall it due to ...

downloadingwith IE

Everytime I try to download the new patch, another window of IE opens, but it is blank. Cannot tell how much of the patch, if anything, is in the process of downloading. I strongly suggest you get a program like wimzip or winrar or a like program. I think the only thing to do with IE is to just let...

There are two rosters now: the unit roster available since the beginning and a new stack roster.
Click on the lower left side tab to change from one to the other or hit the F1 key.

No updated manual. Check the readme for changes.

More fun less raiding from the AI

I am on Matrix under the same name. I'm surprised to have been noticed over there, as I've only posted a small handful of times and only in the MWIF section IIRC. I'm going to go further in the demo and then probably buy the game. I tro play against the AI because I enjoy it and I am not that good ...

I must tip my hat to the creators of AACW. I don’t think I have ever put so much effort into trying to learn and master a game ever in my life. I have read the manual from cover to cover. I have read darn near every strategy post in this forum. I have read the AAR’s and even STUDIED them. I have re...

New roster entries?

I think the latest patch is a big help but I noticed that there is no longer a an entry for listing generals on the roster tab.. I am going to have to read the readme file or the pdf of the manual as there are many changes. I like the game but the map gives me headaches after about 2 hours. Just to ...

Gary & Clovis are right & thanks

Yes I to am aware of the way games are done in the 21 century. It is not a perfect world indeed. Part of my problem is that I love AACW but I have a problem with the interface and certain sub systems within the game. I do not have a clue as to why in the earlier versions of AACW I did not have the p...

' Hehe I have the AH Civil War boardgame with all the little parts and maps to this day. I wonder if the designers of this game used it as a model at all. Its odd but if you take a look at the old boardgame of "Wellington Victory" the map & scale iare almost exactly the same as the tallonsoft battl...

yes I was aware of this but what I was getting at was don't you think the process takes a bit to long and requires a fair number of troops tohold down some regions, or maybe I am the only one thinking this?

Players as testers?

When I was young and all they had was Avalon Hill and there yearly release of a new game it was common knowledge that the players would end up as game testers and there followed many, many, many rules changes (in prit form no computers then) It seems to me that because AGEOD is releasing games with ne...

control vs. ownership

It seems to me as the union against the AI that it takes a lon time and even requires the occupying side to keep units in most regions to convert control to there side. As a result of this I had a large number of units just sitting in regions to try and keep them under control of the union side. I h...

Same engine?...Different war?

I do not want to start a big flame war here but I have a question that may sound dumb (And is?) that I need answered before I plunk down my money. Now I can see that this games bears a strong similarity to AACW. I want to know if it plays the same basic way and shares the same basic interface as AAC...

A Bad case of envy

I have always loved the strategic level games over the many years I have played them but they have not loved me. clearing the air

The experience I have had with this game is that in playing the 1.10a version I had no problems with the supply or in the AI level of play. I am not good enough to play that version above average settings in the option menu but I could hold my own and enjoy the game. When I played the 1.10c version ...

If for what ever reason you wish to play an older patched version of AACW http://www.strategyinformer.com has them all from the oldest to 1.10b and will soon have the new 1.10c patch as well.

Adjustable supply levels?....Please?

I hope it is just me with my total lack of ability to deal with any kind of supply unless it is real, real simple (SIGH :p leure: ). I had been playing 1,10a and liking it a lot. I think for me it is the right balance for supply . In 1.10c I can't get near enough war supply. People yes....ammo ok......

Run for the hill! Rebs are everywhere

I think I have this activation setting wrong. I was doing well in my first game and after 1.10c appeared on the scene I took GShock's advice and uninstalled and reinstalled the game (note it wasn't no 10 minute job) I set the activation for the Reb at the first lowest setting and on the first turn t...
