I have a simple 2 fold question about Artillery. 1. when in a division or a Corps do you incorporate Artillery into a stack (using the + sign) for best benifits or do you just leave them as tag along units attached to the Division, Corps, Ect. Is there any benifit when the Division becomes part of ...

once again: if you play vs the AI and at least "try" to simulate the ACW , use those generals as they were used in history. you lll get a glimpse of how things happened as Lincoln. if you want to win at all cost, sure , use that gamey and cheap tactics to send those generals into death, but then you...

I have tried this but the promotion (medal) button is greyed out for both officers in question. They are outside the stack and promotable. What might be the problem (playing the Blue side)? I would upload a file as proof but it exceeds the size of 1.9 Mbyte. if the button is greyed they are not pro...

Hi, you are right in the respect that you get to the unit when clicking on the message. The unit are then not totally finished with training and has a low cohesion value. I would rather prefer a message when the unit is combat ready . Of course the situation might be different for the Conferderates...

3. How do people use cavalry for raids? I've been sending out single units which move fast but can't stand up to anything. If there's a single militia somewhere then I can't take the town and burn the depot. Do people send out stronger groups (e.g. 2 units & a cavalry artillery)? 4. What do people ...

I would like to see the change where Corps commanders suffer the same penalty as Divisional commanders when taking up a new command. I extra corps commanders are extra gamey, detaching a divisi...

Lee argued that a successful Raid of the North would have forced the Union to send forces East from the West. From my reading of the situation the North would have to have suffered major reverses for that to happen. The South would have been better served if they had sent men West sooner, and Lee p...

What steps are involved in taking out a fort and what forces are best for this type of operation? 3. If you have Art. on a ship, does...

I agree!! Gettyusburg is a wonderful movie; G&G was terrible. John Wayne made a CW movie where he played General Gregg in his famous raid through Mississippi. Overall pretty good, too much tilted toward the Union. Aside, for Marcone, If Gregg had run across Forrest ... no more Gregg. He was very lu...

I just noticed in the manual that CSA commerce raiders do not bring their war supply booty back to the south, they just decrease northern war supplies by the reported amount. O.k. you CSA warriors. What is the strategy to holding these at all cost. Should I put a strong division inside the forts or entrench them outside? Should I build a depot on these forts or does it really matter. Both instances the union would be crossing a river or fighting in a swamp, so I think a...

The 1863 invasion, on the other hand, may have had Western events in mind. This is certainly the view of Foote. A comprehensive defeat of the AOP leading to threats against Washington DC or Philadelphia would probably have forced the Union to transfer troops from the West. This might have caused th...

you dont need support units in each divisions if the division is in a corps, you can place the sup.unit into the corps stack.
you can add support units to independent divisions but you dont have the ressources early on to do that

General to be promoted must be unattached from stack if not in command and if he's a div commander then yes, u must disband then promote, wait for promotion then eventually rebuild the div and repay its costs. As of 2) yes you can promote as many as the seniorit...
