Yep. I was refering to saintsup's comment about blockades only being possible close in given 18th C tech. My point was that a 'sea zone blockade' probably wasn't technically impossible but still shouldn't be in-game. But some way of effectively blockading the Chesapeake - perhaps with Pocus' rather ...

Maybe. The Royal Navy did blockade Brest during the Napoleonic wars with a distant blockade, rather than standing in close to the coast. The problem was that it was ship-intensive, requiring lots of frigates and also exposing the blockading ships to the Atlantic weather for long periods. Actually, I...

I believe you can see when leaders have been killed in the battle resolution screen - there's a row of black crosses at the top. When I trapped the renegade Washington and his 'army' north of Lake Champlain, the number of crosses matched the number of leaders so I took this as showing they all peris...

I've reached 1780 in my campaign with the British, so I've seen this from the other side. 1. I think overall the AI played well. The only glaring mistake it made was leaving Boston unoccupied early in the game. I had two militia units appear in Providence and I moved them to Boston. Washington was i...

3) Some kind of theatre-level intelligence. I can scan all spotted units and count up roughly how big the enemy force is, but it would be great if this could be done automatically, on a State and region level. Just to clarify, not avoiding the FOW, just having the PC consolidate everything I can se...

Traditional patch question: does 1.05 require a clean install or can it be installed over patch 1.04b?

I have a follow-up question: when a town is shown as 'disputed' in the VP screen, what does that mean? From observation, I guess it means that you have occupied the town but do not have any units present and the town is in a disloyal area (ie, it forces the player to garrison occupied towns to get t...

I think the Paradox approach might be the best, since I think having to glance back and forth is perhaps less ergonomic than having it at the mouse cursor. The 2-3 second delay shouldn't be a problem, since to really absorb the import of the information you are going to have to give it a few second...

Starting 1776 Campaign as the British

I'm a couple of turns into my first campaign, showing Johnny Colonial the error of his ways, what?, and i have a couple of questions. 1) has anyone managed to catch Benedict Arnold's army outside Quebec? I ordered a sortie with aggressive posture by the unfixed garrison on the first turn, and he sti...

My word. And two of their posters started fighting each other. Still, it's nice to be reminded why I prefer to visit civillized fora, like Paradox. And this one,of course. :sourcil:
