VGN\Settings\Display.opt - find "D3D9FullScreen = 0" and change it to 1. If you don't care about borders change them to 0. Some people say it helped them. Your GPU doesn't really matter. Thanks Ilitarist, that really helped. I haven't had much time to play but so far it's a tremendous improvement!

Thanks for the advice all. I'll try it out tomorrow evening and see what happens. Would be a bummer if I couldn't play the game and new hardware is currently out of reach.

PoN recommended hardware?

I tried PoN on my private laptop, a three year old machine with external graphics and dedicated memory - the game was basically unplayable. Just scrolling the screen had a lag of at least a second (per scroll), not to mention the time it took to redraw the landscape. Tested with lowest graphics sett...

ERISS, thanks for the quick response. In the meantime I have been able to actually run the game in windowed mode via Steam. My original problem was a huge lag with the interface (eg scrolling, F-keys) rendering the game unplayable. It appears that the windowed mode helped a little bit, but the exper...

It doesn't matter regarding if a unit is hit or not, but it does matter how quick a unit recovers.

Since I started to play, I am used to take the newly formed units, when the game shows the message "the XXXX brigade training is almost complete", because they seemed to be totally completed. After reading the manual carefully, it seems to me that these units would have had more initial experience ...

Is there a Demo available?

I guess title says it all, I'm always interested in good strategy games. I liked EU series, Victoria, HOI but also enjoy War in the Pacific and others.

So maybe you can give me advise if its worth a try i case there is no demo available.
