Jabber is correct. In a PBEM you never defend any fort with a garrison, this also applies to cities and towns. Each are death traps for your units. They will be lost after an assault and you will lose major NM. As a result they are more effectively defended from the outside. I generally keep a divis...

ok this depends on when you start your campaign but generally there are two kinds of troops in this game. Game Created Troops: These appear at towns and regions each turn and is a due to events triggers in the game. There is a list on the forums about what appears where and when. These brigades are ...

Heh There was also a couple hundred Green Mountain Boys at the Battle of Plattsburg. We just cant miss a good fight. It always makes me happy to see the one unit of vermont militia kicking butt. There was also a good reason for using the New York side of the lake, and that was that it was better dev...

PBEM Anyone?

I just have finished a PBEM and would like to start another. I send at least a turn a day usually more than that. I don't mind which side or which year we start up to my opponent. I've played almost a dozen of these so far and so I feel pretty experienced, but do not mind showing new guys the ropes ...

hmm

I dont think this is the place for discussions on politics and what-ifs. Just know that in game terms, if you fall below 40nm or 25 as the south the game is over due to a Moral Victory. This is done by taking strategic cities and capitals, and wining significant battles that destroy units. I have be...

Any Takers yet? I do prefer Union since I am a northern boy from Vermont. Thinking July 61 would be fun as I prefer longer games but am good for at least a turn a day Ive had a games upwards of ten a day.

After the half dozen PBEM games Ive done in the past I find I just cant play the AI anymore.

I believe its due to the St Louis Massacre event, where in RL german troops under lyon bayoneted babies and raped all the women.

Once Lyon shows up in game the Miss'er go gray and Price appears. At least thats my diagnoses.

I am having the same problems in a PBEM right now. I learned the same mistakes, do not attack across a river, horrendous casualties. I took forts Heny+D . So now i have pope with a corps at galintin, and sherman and thomas at the fort. all three are blocked by heavily entrenched confederates. Its ju...

Possible Addition for Brigade Reinforcements

I have a grave concern to address and can only hope that it is addressed! That is that there is no regular brigade available for purchase from Vermont. Now this in not just because i am an aspiring civil war historian from Vermont, but also because of the significant contribution of her troops. The ...

McPherson is the better history. Foote is the better story. They are both well worth the read. Dick I agree with this statement. McPherson's work is the better history.
